Ambedkar Industrial Pioneer Scheme – launched by Chief Minister Stalin
- As per Chief Minister Stalin's order, the International Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Day was held as a state function at the Chennai Trade Center in Nandambakk yesterday. Chief Minister Stalin presided over the function and launched the 'Annal Ambedkar Industrial Pioneers' programme. The Chief Minister issued orders for a grant of Rs.18.94 crore to the first 100 beneficiaries under the scheme to start businesses at a project cost of Rs.57.55 crore.
- He inaugurated 3 industrial estates in 262 acres of land at Kauralik in Chengalpattu district, Manaparai in Trichy district and Sakhimangalam in Madurai district at an estimated cost of Rs.153.22 crore. Under the Small Business Group Development Scheme, he started the first small business group, a cashew processing small business group at Banruti, Cuddalore district.
- He also launched a virtual showroom aimed at creating market opportunities for MSMEs. He awarded a prize money of Rs 10 lakh to the 10 winning student teams under the School Innovation Development Program at the rate of Rs 1 lakh each.
- In the presence of Chief Minister Stalin, MoUs for 100 new investments were signed between the FaMe TN organization for credit facilitation and technology infrastructure and entrepreneurs from all districts of Tamil Nadu, covering all industries and creating 7,400 jobs worth Rs.1,510 crore.
- Also, MoUs were also executed between FaMe TN - Small Business Development Bank (SIDBI). Investments worth Rs.1,723 crore were confirmed at this function. This will create employment for around 30,000 people.
- Apart from this, Chief Minister Stalin also presented awards to companies to recognize the contribution of micro, small and medium enterprises. Among the banks that provided the best financing to these companies, the first prize went to Indian Bank, the second prize went to Indian Overseas Bank, and the third prize went to Indian Overseas Bank. The chief minister also presented the place award to Bank of Baroda.
- Recently, the central government has been working to modernize the Indian railway sector. Vande Bharat is the fastest and most luxurious train in Indian Railways. The country's first Vande Bharat train service was launched in 2019. 17 Vande Bharat trains are running across the country.
- The Prime Minister flagged off five Vande Bharat trains. Rani Kamalapati - Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express; Khajuraho - Bhopal - Indore Vande Bharat Express; Madgaon (Goa) - Mumbai Vande Bharat Express; Dharwad - Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express; Hadia - Patna Vande Bharat Express five train services were started.
- Vande Bharat high speed train service was launched across the country for public use. This service has already been launched and is in use in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and other states.
- The Directorate General of Re-employment under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare of the Ministry of Defense has signed an MoU with a private company, IBM, to ensure continued involvement of ex-servicemen in defense work. Through this agreement, the highly skilled ex-servicemen will get the required employment in the private sector.
- IBM will then select, train, develop and employ ex-servicemen. 24,234 ex-servicemen have got excellent employment in various sectors in the last one year from April 2022 to March 2023. About 60,000 soldiers retire or are discharged annually to keep the defense force young.
- The Union Ministry of Power has decided to fix the price of biomass pellets used to generate electricity in thermal power plants. This decision has been taken keeping in view the emerging market conditions for Bio Fuel Pellets and the demands received from stakeholders including Thermal Power Plants, Pellet Manufacturers, Farmers, Bankers.
- The defined price will take into account business reliability, impact on power bills and power utilities, efficient and quick procurement of pellets. The fixed price procedure, finalized by a committee under the Central Electricity Authority, will come into effect from January 1, 2024.
- Until the panel's recommendations are implemented, power companies will have to go for short-term tenders to meet the immediate demand for biofuel pellets for their thermal power plants.
