Senthil Balaji to continue as Minister without Portfolio - Tamil Nadu Government Ordinance Release

• Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji was arrested by the enforcement department. He was then accused of assaulting him. In this situation, he was first admitted to Omandurar Government Hospital due to sudden chest pain. Now he is being shifted to a private hospital and is undergoing treatment.
• In this situation, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin decided to transfer 2 Ministers Thangam Tennarasu and Muthuswamy who were in charge of Minister Senthil Balaji who was receiving medical treatment. He sent a letter in this regard to the Governor.
• In this case, Anand Patil, Government Secretary of the Governor's House suddenly issued an announcement in the evening. Accordingly, Governor RN Ravi accepted the letter of recommendation from the Government of Tamil Nadu.
• However, Senthil Balaji cannot agree to continue as minister as he is currently in judicial custody facing criminal cases.
• In this situation, as the Governor continues to protest, Minister Senthil Balaji has issued an executive order to continue as a minister without portfolio and has issued an action order of the Tamil Nadu government.

Tamil Nadu government issues ordinance to allocate Rs 500 crore to buy 1000 buses in Tamil Nadu

• The Tamil Nadu government has issued an order allocating Rs.500 crore to buy 1000 new buses and refurbish 500 old buses. 200 new buses are being procured for the Government Rapid Transport Corporation at a cost of Rs.58.5 lakh each. 800 new buses are being procured for Villupuram, Coimbatore, Kumbakonam, Madurai and Nellai divisions at a cost of Rs.41.2 lakhs.
• On 20.03.2023 while presenting the budget speech in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, the following notification was issued. There is a need to continuously renew the number of buses to provide quality and convenient transport services to the people. The government will purchase 1000 new buses and refurbish 500 old buses at government expense.
• The approximate cost of purchasing a standard type new custom built BS-VI diesel bus (chassis+body) without ITS components is Rs.41.20 lakhs for Mofussil bus. The approximate cost of purchasing a bus by Government Rapid Transport Corporation Tamil Nadu Limited is Rs.58.50 Lakhs. State transport agency wise allocations for 1000 buses and the estimated cost is Rs.446.60 crore.
• Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (Villupuram, Kumbakonam, Tirunelveli) are under consideration for full phase renovation in FY 2022-23, Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) Limited, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (Coimbatore and Madurai) are under full consideration.
• In the financial year 2023-24, the total cost of renovation of bus is Rs. 15.75 lakh for town bus, Rs. 15.20 lakh for Mofusil bus and Rs. 14.44 lakh for God bus. State transport company wise allocation and total estimate for refurbishing 500 buses is Rs.76.3412 crore.
• Rs 76.3412 crore Undertakings and Rs 446.60 crore have been sought for refurbishing 500 old buses of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. It has sanctioned procurement of 1000 customized BS-VI diesel buses to replace 1000 old buses.
• The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned Rs.500 crore (Rs. 446.60 crore + Rs. 53.40 crore) for purchase of 1000 newly developed BS-VI diesel buses after a careful study. Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations ie Government Rapid Transport Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (Villupuram, Coimbatore Kumbakonam, Madurai and Tirunelveli) and 500 old buses (estimated cost Rs.76.34 crore) will be refurbished.
• As per the number of buses allotted to the three Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations namely Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) Limited, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Coimbatore, Madurai) through the Tamil Nadu Transport Development Fund Corporation Limited, the above sanctioned amount as equity capital assistance to the respective Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations. . will be paid.

Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society renamed as Prime Minister's Museum and Library Society

• A special meeting of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Association decided to rename it as Prime Minister's Museum and Library Association. This special meeting was presided over by Mr. Rajnath Singh, Defense Minister and Vice President of the Association.
• Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi proposed to set up a Museum of All Prime Ministers at Deen Murthy Complex in New Delhi dedicated to all the Prime Ministers of India. The Prime Minister's Museum, built on this basis, was opened to the public on April 21, 2022.

Framework Agreement on Sustainable Development Cooperation 2023-27 signed between NITI Aayog – UN

• The Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Agreement 2023-27 was signed today between NITI Aayog and UN. The agreement was signed on behalf of NITI Aayog by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. PVR Subramaniam, and on behalf of the United Nations, Mr. Shombhi Sharp, the Accommodation Coordinator in India. Mr. Suman Peri, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, representatives of Union Ministries and Heads of UN Agencies in India graced the occasion.
• The agreement was signed for joint action in line with the Central Government's National Vision to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals that promote gender equality, youth empowerment and human rights.
• The agreement will build on the 4 key dimensions (ie People, Resources, Planet, Participation) from the 2030 Agenda. These 4 pillars will focus on 6 applications: health and well-being, nutrition and food security, quality education, economic growth and decent work, environment and climate, and empowerment of people, communities and institutions.
