Commencement of cargo shipping service to Maldives
- Union Minister of State for Shipping and Waterways Sri Shantanu Thakur inaugurated the cargo shipping service from Thoothukudi to Maldives.
- VUC in Tuticorin MSS GALENA left the port for Maldives with 270 containers of construction and textile goods. This shipping service will help improve the relations between the two countries.
- The ship will operate thrice a month. The vessel has a capacity of 421 cargo holds and bulk cargo. The cargo ship, which left on Friday, will reach Male port in Maldives on Sunday. It is to be noted that this cargo ship is operated by Indian Shipping Corporation.
