Domestic coal production has increased by about 23 percent in the last 5 years

• India's coal production for FY 2022-23 was 893.08 million tonnes. This is an increase of 22.6 percent over FY 2018-19. Coal production in 2018-19 was 728.72 million tonnes. The ministry is prioritizing reducing coal imports and increasing domestic coal production. 
• The production of Indian Coal Company has increased by 703.21 million tonnes in the last 5 years. This is an increase of 15.9 percent over FY 2018-19. SCCL produced 67.14 million tonnes of coal in the last financial year 2022-23. This is an increase of 4.3 percent over FY 2018-19.
• The annual coal production target for the current financial year 2023-24 has been set at 1012 million tonnes.

Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to introduce small grains in the diet of Central Armed Police Forces and National Disaster Response Force

• The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to introduce small grains in the diet of Central Armed Police Forces and National Disaster Response Force during the International Year of the Child - 2023 under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Accordingly, after detailed discussions with all the soldiers, as requested by the Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperatives, Mr. Amit Shah, 30 percent of the rations have been introduced with small grains. 
• The UN has declared 2023 as the International Year of Small Grains due to the central government's efforts to recognize the importance of small grains and address the need for small grains both domestically and globally.

Upaaj is a festival of innovations in the arts

• On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, Upaaj, a festival of innovation in the arts, began on April 26, 2023 at Niti Aayog, New Delhi. The event was organized in conjunction with the World Intellectual Property Day celebrations organized by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks.
• Simultaneously NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Initiative held a panel discussion on the importance and challenges of protecting innovation in arts activities. Artists, innovators, intellectual property experts and others participated in this panel discussion.
