Air quality index in Delhi
  • According to Central Pollution Control Board's air quality index data, Delhi had more days between January and April in 2023 with air quality ranging from "good" to "moderate". In the last 7 years from 2016 to 2016, the air quality index has had the highest number of good days in this four-month period, except during the Covid-19 lockdown period.
  • In the period from January to April, 8 days in 2016, 29 days in 2017, 32 days in 2018, 44 days in 2019, 68 days in 2020, 31 days in 2021, 27 days in 2022. Air quality has been either “excellent” or “moderate” for days. In 2020, a curfew was implemented in April due to Covid. Currently, 52 days of the current year 2023 from January to April have air quality index of good or moderate.
  • Delhi has recorded the lowest number of days in the 'Worst to Worst' quality index so far in 2023 compared to the last 7 years excluding the Covid-19 outbreak.
World Cup Shooting Competition 2023
  • The World Cup shooting is taking place in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The pair of India's Mairaj Ahmed and Khanemath participated in the qualifying round for the 'skeet' mixed teams. They scored 143 points and advanced to the competition for gold. 
  • The co-contestants were the pair of Olivers and Gabriella from Mexico. 43-year-old Ahmed's experience lends itself to Kanemat's (22-year-old) dynamism.

40th season of Asian Badminton Championship
  • The 40th season of the Asian Badminton Championship took place in Dubai. In the men's doubles final, India's Satviksairaj and Chirag Shetty faced off against Malaysia's Ang Yew Chin and Deo E Yee. After losing the first set 16-21, the Indian pair rallied back to win the second set 21-17. 
  • In the third set to decide the winner, the Indian pair was trailing 8-11 at one point, then recovered and won 21-19. At the end of the one hour and 7 minute long match, Satviksairaj and Chirag Shetty won the title 16-21, 21-17, 21-19 and became the first Indian pair to win gold in Asian Badminton.
  • Earlier, India's Dibu-Raman Ghosh (1971) in men's doubles, India's Juwala Khata-Ashwini Ponnappa (2014) in women's doubles, India's Rankan-Sarojini (1965) and Sheikh-Karnik (1965) in mixed doubles had won a bronze each. , India's first gold in Asian Badminton after 58 years. India's Dinesh Khanna last won gold in singles in 1965.
