Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 - Congress Wins
- BJP is ruling Karnataka under the leadership of Chief Minister Basavaraj Tommy. The tenure of this government ends on the 24th. Subsequently, the election to the 224-constituency Karnataka Assembly was held on the 10th. In this, various parties including ruling BJP, Congress, secular Janata Dal and Aam Aadmi Party contested.
- 2 thousand 615 candidates were in the field in this election. The ruling BJP contested in 224 seats, the Congress in 223 seats and the Janata Dal(S) in 207 seats. This election was considered important as the parliamentary elections are to be held next year (2024).
- In this case, the counting of votes in the Karnataka assembly elections took place as planned yesterday. In this the Congress party won 135 seats. BJP won 65 seats and Majda 19 seats. Despite Prime Minister Modi's very aggressive campaigning, the ruling BJP has suffered a crushing defeat.
- Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who switched parties at the last minute and contested from the Congress party, failed to get a ticket in the BJP. At the same time, Lakshman Savathi, another leader who defected to the party, has vowed to win. Also, Kumaraswamy's son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, has met with a crushing defeat in Ramanagara.
- The Election Commission has officially announced that the Congress has won the Congress Legislative Assembly elections.
