Award for Best Handloom Weavers - Presented by Chief Minister M.K.Stalin
  • Best Weaver Award is given annually to encourage handloom weavers in Tamil Nadu. Also, a state-level ``Best Young Designer Award'' has been introduced by the government for the year 2022-23 to recognize and encourage designers who have contributed to the textile industry's techniques, design and forecasting of changing color trends.
  • Accordingly, the first prize for the best silk weaver award for the year 2022-23- Tiruppuvanam Silk Cooperative Society member V. Rajaletsumi, 2nd prize Kanchipuram scholar Anna Pattu Sangha member M. Suresh, 3rd prize Arani Pattu Sangha member M. Also, the first prize for the best weaver award in the cotton category went to MK Saravanan, member of Paramakkudi Pasumpon Muthuramalingadevar Handloom Weavers Association, 2nd prize to GL Nagarajan, member of Paramakkudi, Kalaimala Handloom Weavers Association, and 3rd prize to Salem, Dhoppur Handloom Weavers Cooperative. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin presented checks of Rs.20 lakhs and certificates of appreciation to 6 awardees including association member K.Indranikum.
  • In the young designer award, the first prize went to M. Shanmugapriya from Coimbatore, the 2nd prize to V. Sibin, a 2nd year student of technology at PSG College of Technology, Tirupur, and the 3rd prize to M. J. Kirankumar from Arani as a cash prize of Rs 2.25 lakh. .Stalin presented.
  • Minister R. Gandhi, Chief Secretary V. Irayanbu, Handloom Department Secretary Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, Handloom Commissioner D. P. Rajesh and others participated in the program.
Indian Navy Personnel Services Officer Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan took charge
  • Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan took charge as the Controller of Personnel Services of the Indian Navy on 17 April. He joined the service on July 1, 1987 and is an expert in communications and electronic warfare. 
  • He is an alumnus of the Katakwasla National Defense Academy. He graduated from Joint Divisional College, Srivenkat, England, Naval College, Karanja, Naval College, Newport, USA.
  • A recipient of Athi Visisht Seva Medal, Visisht Seva Medal, he has served in missile ships INS Vidyut, INS Vinash, INS Kulish; Guided Missile Destroyer INS Mysore; He has served on the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.
  • On promotion, he served as Chief Staff Officer (Training) at Southern Naval Headquarters, Kochi. He played an important role in conducting all the exercises in the Indian Navy. After holding various posts, he was appointed and served as the Commander-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.
  • Admiral Swaminathan's academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Master of Science in Telecommunications from Cochin University of Science and Technology; MA in Defense Studies from King's College London MPhil in Strategic Studies from University of Mumbai; He holds PhDs in International Studies from the University of Mumbai.
