Marriage age raised to 18 in Britain
  • Britain, which once ruled India, has raised the minimum age for marriage to 18. Before this, complaints were raised for a long time that parents forced marriages of 16- and 17-year-olds.
  • In this context, the governments of England and Wales have raised the minimum age for marriage to 18 to prevent such forced child marriages. It is a crime under the law to marry anyone under the age of 18 under any circumstances.
  • Therefore, it has been informed that legal action will be taken against them in full swing if both parties get married to those who are below 18 years of age.
  • The currently announced change will only apply in England and Wales. It is likely that this age will continue to be 16 in the British Commonwealth of Nations, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Inaugurated a special scheme for carrying out, scheme of giving free housing to differently-abled persons on priority basis, laid foundation stone of 44 new hospital blocks at a cost of Rs 1,136.32 crore on behalf of Medical and People's Welfare Department, issued appointment orders for various government jobs to those selected through Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission and on compassionate basis.
New app to detect fish diseases: Central Govt
  • Union Fisheries Minister Parshotham Rupala inaugurated the genetic improvement program at Chennai National Institute of Brackish Water Aquaculture. An app named 'Report Fish Disease' has been launched to inform about the diseases of fish in our country. In this way we can directly inform the District Fisheries Officers about the diseases affecting our fish.
