Fund allocation for 42 projects under 'Singhara Chennai' 2.0 project
  • Under Singara Chennai 2.0 project in Chennai Corporation, the Government of Tamil Nadu has allocated 42 crore rupees to preserve, revive and restore 11 parks, 2 playgrounds, 10 seaweed parks, 2 graveyards, 16 school assemblies and the iconic Victoria Public Assembly in Principal College.
 'TARKASH' Counter-Terrorism: Indo-US Forces Joint Exercise in Chennai
  • War is a threat to the world. Both physical and biological warfare are threats to the nations of the world. In this case, joint anti-terrorism training is going on between India and America.
  • This exercise is for the first time training against nuclear and bio terrorist attacks. Joint training is conducted against Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) warfare.
  • This 6th joint exercise was started on January 16 this year. It will be held till February 14. The joint exercise is taking place against the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine war. The ongoing training in Chennai also includes training on combating chemical and biological attacks.
  • A target attack drill was also conducted by IAF helicopters. Successfully engaged in target destruction, hostage rescue and chemical agent weapon neutralization were practiced.
Asian Athletics Championship - Tamil Nadu player wins medal and sets new record
  • The Asian Athletics Championships are being held in Kazakhstan. In this series, 26 players from across the country including 7 from Tamil Nadu have participated on behalf of India. In this case, Tamil Nadu players Praveen Chitravel participated in the triple jump competition.
  • Praveen Chitravel won the silver medal in the triple jump with a distance of 16.98m. India's Amarjeet Singh had cleared the national record of 16.26 meters, but now Praveen Chitravel has broken it.
Asian Indoor Athletics Championship: Tamil Nadu's two players won medals
  • The 10th Asian Indoor Athletics Championship will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan from 10th to 12th. A 26-member Indian team is participating in this tournament.
  • Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu's Pavitra won the silver medal and Rosy Meena Balraj won the bronze medal in the women's pole vault competition. Earlier, India's current national record holder Tajinderpal Singh Door won the gold medal in men's shot put event.
