• A fun fact about newspapers is that it is the perfect excuse for the men to escape from any fights with their wives, household chores and so on. 
• Today is the day to celebrate the piece of paper that tells us about the world and keeps us updated. Today is Indian Newspaper Day, which is celebrated every year on 29th January.

History and Significance

• INDIAN NEWSPAPER DAY 2024: Indian Newspaper Day commemorates the birth of the first Indian Newspaper on January 29, 1780. The ‘Hickey’s Bengal Gazette’, which was also known as the ‘Calcutta General Advertiser’, was the first weekly newspaper. 
• As per the summons of the Indian Newspaper Society, this day is celebrated on 29th January every year. The first year of celebrating this day is unknown.
• After the entry of the digital news platforms, things have changed for the Indian newspaper industry. With the fast-paced life, it has become difficult for people to sit and read the newspaper.
