INS Waqir Submarine handed over to Navy
- It was planned to indigenously manufacture 5 Scorpene submarines in collaboration with a French company for naval use. These submarines were built at Masakan Shipyard in Mumbai. Already 4 Scorpion type submarines namely INS Kalvari, Kanderi, Karanj and Vela have been delivered to the Navy.
- In this case, the 5th submarine INS Vagir was handed over to the Navy. These ships will be added to the fleet soon. With the increasing traffic of Chinese warships in the Indian Ocean, the addition of INS Vaghir to the Indian Navy will be a further boost to its combat capability.
- INS Waqir submarine was launched in November 2020. Its trials began last February. The submarine completed all the tests, including the armament test, within a short span of time.
- It can accurately attack sea-going enemy ships and submarines. This vessel can carry out many tasks such as floating land mines in the sea, surveillance, etc.
- The selection committee meeting to select 2 members for the Tamil Nadu State Human Rights Commission was held yesterday morning in the President's room under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.
- In this, the chairman of the council, Appavu, participated. In this selection committee meeting, the committee has recommended the appointment of retired ICourt judges Raja Ilango and Kannadasan to the Tamil Nadu State Human Rights Commission.
- The Government of Tamil Nadu has constituted a high-level committee headed by the Secretary of the Human Resource Development Department to provide 4% reservation for differently-abled persons in the promotion of Tamil Nadu government jobs.
- The members of this committee are the Additional Chief Secretary of the NIT Department, the Secretary of the Handicapped Welfare Department, the Secretary of the Legal Divorce Department and the Handicapped Welfare Commissioner.
- The high-level committee will examine the report of the sub-committee on 4% reservation for differently-abled persons in promotion and make recommendations.
