- இந்தியாவின் தேசிய சுகாதார இணையதளத்தின்படி, ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் உலகம் முழுவதும் சுமார் 7 மில்லியன் மக்கள் காற்று மாசுபாட்டால் இறக்கின்றனர்.
- அசுத்தமான நீர், நிலம் மற்றும் காற்று ஆகியவற்றால் ஏற்படும் ஆபத்துகள் குறித்து விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்த ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் டிசம்பர் 2 ஆம் தேதி தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
- மேலும், போபால் வாயு சோகம் போன்ற தொழில்துறை பேரழிவுகளை எவ்வாறு தடுப்பது என்பதை முன்னிலைப்படுத்த. சுற்றுச்சூழல் மாசுபாடு வாழ்க்கைத் தரத்தையும் ஆரோக்கியத்தையும் பாதிக்கிறது. மேலும், அதிகரித்து வரும் மாசு விகிதத்தில் நாம் வகிக்கும் பங்கு.
- 1984ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 2ஆம் தேதி போபால் விஷவாயு விபத்தில் உயிரிழந்தவர்களின் நினைவாக தேசிய மாசுக்கட்டுப்பாட்டு தினம் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.
- பட்டாசு வெடித்தல், சாலையில் ஓடும் வாகனங்கள், வெடிகுண்டு வெடித்தல், தொழிற்சாலைகள் மூலம் வாயுக் கசிவு போன்ற பல்வேறு காரணிகள் மாசு ஏற்படுவதற்கு காரணமாகின்றன.
- தற்போது மாசு பிரச்னை நாளுக்கு நாள் அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. அந்தந்த அரசு மற்றும் மக்களும் மாசு அளவைக் குறைக்க வேண்டும். மாசுபாட்டைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவதற்கான யோசனைகளையும் திட்டங்களையும் உருவாக்க வேண்டும்.
தேசிய மாசுக் கட்டுப்பாட்டு தினத்தின் நோக்கங்கள்
- நீர், காற்று, மண், சத்தம் போன்ற பல்வேறு மாசுகளை ஏற்படுத்தும் மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழலையும் வெளிப்படையாக ஆரோக்கியத்தையும் பாதிக்கும் தொழில்களில் மக்களுக்கு விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதும், விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்துவதும் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.
- ‘மெத்தில் ஐசோசயனேட் (எம்ஐசி)’ என்ற விஷ வாயு கசிவு உலகிலேயே இதுவரை நடந்த மிக மோசமான சோகமான போபால் விஷவாயு சோகத்தை நாம் மறக்க முடியாது.

- National Pollution Control Day is observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the Bhopal Gas tragedy on 2nd December 1984.
- There are several factors that are responsible for causing pollution like the bursting of crackers, vehicles running on the roads, bomb blasts, leakage of gases via industries, etc.
- Nowadays the problem of pollution is increasing day by day and it is the duty of the respective government and also the people to reduce the level of pollution. We should generate ideas and plans to control pollution.
Objectives of National Pollution Control Day
- The main objective is to make people aware and spread awareness in the industries that cause various pollution like water, air, soil, and noise and affect the environment and obviously health.
- We can't forget, the Bhopal gas tragedy in which the leakage of poisonous gas ‘Methyl Isocyanate (MIC)’ is the worst tragedy happened in the world so far.
