PM launched Vande Bharat train through video
- Prime Minister Modi had also planned to inaugurate the Vande Bharat Express train between Howrah-New Jalpaiguri, a Rs 5,000 crore railway project in West Bengal. But unexpectedly, Prime Minister Modi's mother Heeraben (100), who was undergoing treatment at a Gujarat hospital, died early yesterday morning.
- Prime Minister Modi left for Gujarat early yesterday morning to participate in the funeral. Accordingly, Prime Minister Modi participated in the program held in Howrah shortly after his mother's funeral. West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav attended the program in person.
- Chief Minister M.K.Stalin released a handbook containing the key features of the decree for a special package of incentives for start-up companies based on green technology, rural livelihood development and having women as primary stakeholders.
- For industrial companies, the Tanseat subsidy fund has been increased from Rs.10 lakh to Rs.15 lakh. It will be given in 3 installments of Rs.5 lakh each.
- 25 per cent of the selected companies in a financial year will be earmarked for companies with women as primary shareholders and 10 per cent for rural livelihood development companies.
- In state government-aided entrepreneurship incubators, women-run entrepreneurs have no membership fees and one-year rent up to Rs 2 lakh.
- Also, special schemes have been announced for Pemtech companies providing women welfare products and services and women-run innovation companies, special business development training, assistance to raise investment through the Tamil Angel Investor platform.
- Funding will be provided under the 'Green Climate Fund' scheme for sustainable growth, circular economy-based and commercially beneficial projects. A 'Government Procurement Assistance Centre' will be set up at the Chennai and Madurai offices of the Tamil Nadu Industry and Innovation Corporation for government procurement of green technology products and services.
- Annually 20 green technology start-ups will be given one-year industrialization training. Tamil Nadu government is providing Rs 10 lakh grant fund to eligible companies to support start-up companies. Currently, 60 companies under the 3 phases held so far, in the 4th phase, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin gave Rs 1.25 crore grant fund of Rs 5 lakh each to 25 companies.
- He also launched 'Mentor TN', a mentoring software website that connects entrepreneurs seeking appropriate guidance in their new age entrepreneurial journey with mentors willing to mentor them.
- In this event, Minister Thamo Anparasan, Chief Secretary V. Irayanpu, Small and Medium Enterprises Department Secretary V. Arunrai and others participated in the event.
- Koneru Hampi won the silver medal at the World Chess Championship with 12.5 points. She has created the record of becoming the first woman to win a medal for India in the Blitz Chess Championship series. She became the first Indian athlete to win a medal at the World Blitz (2022) and Rapid (2019) championships.
