Extension of free food grain scheme for one year
- The central government implemented the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana in April 2020 during the Corona lockdown period.
- Under this scheme, each member of a poor family is given 5 kg of wheat or rice in the ration free of cost. Last September, the central government extended the scheme for three months till December 31.
- In this context, the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held in Delhi yesterday. In this, approval was given to extend the free food grain scheme called Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till December next year.
