Best Word of 2022 - Goblin Mode

• A word of the year is chosen with the intention of reflecting the mood and thoughts of the past twelve months. This year's poll featured three words: Metaverse, IStandWith, and GoblinMode. From last November 21 to Dec. 93 percent of the votes have been reported in the online poll till the 2nd.
• Out of which the word 'Goblin Mod' was selected with more than 3.40 lakh votes. VaX was selected as the best word of the year 2021. 
• 'Goblin Mode' refers to the individual's desire to do whatever they want without regard to general rules and regulations, to think in terms of self-interest, selfishness, guilt-free behavior and greediness. It mainly refers to the attitude of those who make a mess of the house and live lazily.

Repo rate increased by 35 basis points

• RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das announced a 35 basis point hike in the interest rate on loans provided by the Reserve Bank of India to the media in Mumbai. The repo rate has been increased for the 5th time in 8 months in the current financial year. 
• Following the RBI's announcement, interest rates and installments on loans in banks will increase further and the repo rate will rise to 6.25 percent from 5.90 percent.

2022 World Weightlifting Championships - Mirabai Chanu wins silver medal

• The 2022 World Weightlifting Championships are underway in Bogotá, Colombia. In this, Indian athlete Meerabai Sanu was in the women's 49 kg weight category. Showcasing his full potential, he lifted a total of 200 kg and won the silver medal. 
• Another Chinese athlete in this category, Jiang Huihua, lifted the weight (206 kg) and won the gold medal.

Aam Aadmi took over the Delhi Corporation

• Capital Delhi had 3 Municipal Corporations and a total of 272 wards. In this case, 3 Municipal Corporations were merged together. Accordingly the wards were reduced to 250.
• In this situation, the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections for 250 wards were held on the last 4th. Out of which, only 50.47 percent votes were recorded.
• The counting of votes in this election started at 8 am today (December 7). Out of 250 wards, Aam Aadmi Party won 134 wards, BJP won 104 wards, Congress won 7 wards and independent candidates won 3 wards. 
• With this, the Aam Aadmi Party has for the first time captured the Delhi Corporation from the BJP, which had held it for the last 15 years.

Nagpur Flyover is a Guinness World Record holder

• The flyover constructed in Nagpur, Maharashtra has a Guinness World Record. The expressway flyover and the metro rail flyover are being constructed simultaneously.
• Union Minister of Highways Nitin Gadkari has expressed appreciation for this as it has been placed in the Guinness Book of Records.

Introducing a new app for the Supreme Court - Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

• Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Chandrachud said that a new app has been introduced to the Supreme Court. This app is available on play store as supreme court mobile app 2.0. It has been reported that through this app, you can know about the details of pending cases in government departments.

National Small Business Corporation signs MoU with Walmart

• An MoU between National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and Walmart Global Sourcing India Pvt Ltd was signed on 6th. Chairman and Managing Director of NSIC Mr. Gaurang Dixit and Walmart Director Mr. Pramila Mallya signed the MoU in the presence of Union Minister for Small and Medium Industries Mr. Narayan Rane.
• Through this MoU, NSIC can offer its programs and services to MSMEs participating in various development projects. MSMEs can also get necessary capital financing and bulk procurement support to start their business.
• The MoU will also play a key role in enabling MSMEs to generate exports worth USD 2 trillion by 2030.
