- நவம்பர் 21 அன்று கொண்டாடப்படும் உலக மீனவ தினம், ஆரோக்கியமான கடல் சுற்றுச்சூழல் அமைப்புகளின் முக்கியமான முக்கியத்துவத்தை முன்னிலைப்படுத்தவும், உலகில் நிலையான மீன்வளத்தை உறுதி செய்யவும் அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
- மீனவ சமூகங்கள் இந்த நாளை பேரணிகள், பட்டறைகள், பொதுக் கூட்டங்கள், கலாச்சார நாடகங்கள், கண்காட்சிகள் மற்றும் இசை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் மூலம் கொண்டாடுகின்றன.
- இது பரவலாகக் கொண்டாடப்படும் இந்தியாவில் உள்ள மீனவர்கள், அதிகப்படியான மீன்பிடித்தல் மற்றும் இயந்திரமயமாக்கல் போன்ற பிரச்சனைகளை எடுத்துரைப்பதோடு, உலகின் மீன்வளத்தைப் பராமரிப்பதன் முக்கியத்துவத்தையும் நிரூபிக்கின்றனர்.

- முதல் உலக மீன்பிடி தினம் நவம்பர் 21, 2015 அன்று கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. அதே நாளில், புதுதில்லியில் சர்வதேச மீனவர் அமைப்பின் பிரமாண்ட திறப்பு விழா நடைபெற்றது.
- உலக மீன்பிடி கூட்டமைப்பிற்கான ஒரு மன்றம் 1997 இல் நிறுவப்பட்டது, இது பிரபலமாக WFF (உலக மீன்பிடி மன்றம்) என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டது.
- இந்த மன்றத்தின் கீழ், உலகெங்கிலும் உள்ள பல பங்கேற்பாளர்கள் இதில் தீவிரமாக பங்கேற்றனர்.
- நடைமுறைகளின் தரப்படுத்தலைக் குறிக்கும் உலகளாவிய ஒருமித்த ஆவணத்தில் சுமார் 18 நாடுகள் கையெழுத்திட்டன.
- 1997இல் WFF இன் நினைவுகள் வரலாற்றின் பக்கங்களில் பொறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன, ஏனெனில் அது மீனவ சமூகத்தின் ஒரு புதிய வடிவத்தை எழுதியது.
- அன்றைய கருப்பொருள் "நீலத்தில் வாழ்க்கையை நிலைநிறுத்துதல் & பாதுகாத்தல்" என்பதாகும்.
- World Fisheries Day, celebrated on November 21, is dedicated to highlighting the critical importance of healthy ocean ecosystems and to ensure sustainable stocks of fisheries in the world. Fishing communities celebrate this day through rallies, workshops, public meetings, cultural dramas, exhibitions, and music shows.
- Fisher folks in India, where it is widely celebrated, also demonstrate the importance of maintaining the fisheries of the world along with highlighting the problems like overfishing and mechanization.
- World Fisheries Day also explores finding solutions to the increasingly interconnected problems that the world is facing to follow sustainable models of our ocean ecosystems
- The first World Fisheries Day was celebrated on November 21, 2015. On the same day, it was the grand opening of the International Fisherman’s organization was held in New Delhi.
- A forum for the World Fisheries consortium was established around 1997 and was famously called WFF (World Fisheries Forum). Under this forum, several participants across the world actively took part in it.
- Around 18 countries signed a global consensus document that marked the standardization of practices.
- The memories of WFF in 1997 lay etched in the pages of history because it wrote a new form of working pattern of the fisherfolk community.
- The theme of the day was “Sustain & Conserve the Life in Blue”.
