The Tamil Nadu Government has allocated Rs.912 crore for the Prime Minister's house construction project, including the shares of the Central and State Governments

  • The central government allocated Rs 891.12 crore, one-fourth of the Rs 3,564.98 crore for the construction of 2.89 lakh houses in 2020-21 and 2021-22 for the balance of 2018-19 and 2021-22. Along with this fund, the Tamil Nadu government also allocated Rs 1,485.21 crore.
  • Subsequently, the central government provided Rs 891.36 crore to the Tamil Nadu government out of the remaining Rs 2,673.86 crore. The next phase allocated Rs.667.45 crore.
  • Following this, the Rural Development Commissioner asked the Tamil Nadu government to allocate Rs. 912.19 crores along with the Rs. 547.31 crores (60 percent share) allocated by the central government and Rs. 364.88 crores (40 percent share) of the state government to the Adi Dravidas and other sections.
  • Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu government has ordered to set aside Rs.912.19 crore. The Tamil Nadu Government has instructed the Rural Development Commissioner to collect this amount from the appropriate accounts. Apart from this, the central government has provided an additional Rs. 200 Crores.

  • Tamil Nadu's Ananthakumar won the bronze medal in the men's 1000m category in roller sports. Tamil Nadu's Sarvesh won the silver medal in the inline freestyle speed slalom category. Tamil Nadu won silver in the relay.
  • Tamil Nadu's Aarti clocked 1:39 seconds to win the gold medal in the women's 1000 meter category in roller sports.
  • Tamil Nadu women's team won gold in the relay category. B. Kamali of Tamil Nadu won the silver medal in skate boarding park. Tamil Nadu won the silver medal in Artistic Skating Pair Dance.
  • Kerala's Nayana James won the gold in women's long jump with a throw of 6.33m. Uttar Pradesh's Shailisingh (6.28) won silver and Kerala's Shruti Lakshmi (6.24) won bronze.
Best Municipality Rameswaram - Central Government Award
  • Prime Minister Modi launched the Clean India Urban Movement. Accordingly, on behalf of the Ministry of Urban Housing, the cleanliness and urban development structures in cities with a population of less than 50 thousand are analyzed and the best municipalities are selected and awarded every year.
  • The one-year anniversary of the Swachh Movement was recently held in Delhi. In this, Rameswaram Municipality, which is a holy place, has been selected as the best municipality by the central government because of its excellent cleanliness structure.
  • Union Minister Kaul Kishore presented the award to Rameswaram Municipal Chairman Nazarkhan. Municipal Commissioner Kannan, Councilors Mukesh Kumar, Murugan and Sathyamurthy participated in the function.
'Country's unemployment rate falls to 6.43% in September'
  • Last month, the number of employed people in India fell by 20 lakh to 39.46 crore. Mahesh Vyas, director of the Center for Economic Monitoring of India (CMIE), said that the unemployment rate has declined significantly in September due to an increase in the number of job seekers.
  • According to CMIE data, the unemployment rate in rural areas has come down significantly.
  • The unemployment rate in rural areas fell by 1.84 percent in the same month. It decreased to 5.84 percent in September from 7.68 percent in August.
  • Meanwhile, the unemployment rate (except July) has been consistently above 7 percent since February this year. The unemployment rate hit a one-year high of 8.3 percent in August. Similar trend is observed in urban areas as in rural areas.
  • The unemployment rate, which increased to 9.57 percent in August, fell to 7.70 percent in September. Additionally, 80 lakh people have been employed, which shows that the economy is in good shape. 
  • On a state-wise basis, Rajasthan recorded the highest unemployment rate at 23.8 percent in September. It is followed by Jammu and Kashmir at 23.2 percent and Tripura at 17 percent. 22.9 percent in Haryana, 12.2 percent in Jharkhand and 11.4 percent in Bihar.
  • Chhattisgarh has the lowest unemployment rate in the country at 0.1 percent. This is followed by 0.4 percent in Assam and 0.5 percent in Uttarakhand. The unemployment rate in MP is 0.9 percent.
  • Odisha recorded an unemployment rate of 2.9 percent. The increase in rural unemployment in India in August was attributed to increased rainfall, affecting sowing operations. The impact was also reflected in urban unemployment.
  • Notably, the rural unemployment rate was 7.7 percent and the urban unemployment rate was 9.6 percent in August.
Digital India Summit of State Technology Ministers
  • Along with the 6th India Mobile Congress, the State IT Ministers' Digital India Summit was also held on October 1.
  • The summit was chaired by Union Minister of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Railways Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Communications Mr. Dev Singh Chauhan, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, IT Ministers, Secretaries and officials from 12 states and Union Territories including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Mizoram and Sikkim participated.
