India's First Solar Electric Village at Modera in Gujarat - PM Modi Announces

  • The famous Sun Temple is located in Mothera village in Mehsana district of Gujarat. It was built in 1026-27 by King Bhima of the Chalukya dynasty. In this context, Prime Minister Modi came to Gujarat to inaugurate various projects.
  • He came to Mothera in Mehsana and started a solar project in that village. He then announced that Mothera village was India's first solar village.
  • More than a thousand houses in Mothera are equipped with solar panels and generate electricity 24 hours a day. With this, it has become the first village in the country to run on 24-hour solar power.

  • Monsoon winds and other climatic factors and the ways in which these natural elements have influenced, in an attempt to understand the interaction between different countries in the Indian Ocean region at different periods of history, was presented by the Union Ministry of Culture at the 38th World Heritage Committee meeting of UNESCO in Doha, Qatar in 2014. was initiated. The project is currently managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
  • Also, ASI organized a two-day National Conference on Indian Ocean Rim Countries on October 7 and 8, 2022 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, with the aim of promoting research and broadening our understanding of the subject.

Direct tax collection for the financial year 2022-23 till October 8, 2022, Rs. 8.98 lakh crore
  • The provisional figure of direct tax collection up to October 8, 2022 has recorded a steady growth. According to this the total collection is Rs. 8.98 lakh crore. This is 23.8% higher than the total collection for the same period last year.
  • Direct tax collection, total refunds of Rs. 7.45 lakh crore, a 16.3% increase over the same period last year. This collection is 52.46% of the total budget estimate of direct taxes for the financial year 2022-23.
  • In terms of growth of Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and Personal Income Tax (PIT) in total revenue collection, CIT has grown by 16.73% and PIT by 32.30%. From April 1 to October 8, 2022 Rs. 1.53 lakh crore has been repaid. This is 81.0% higher than the amount provided in the same period of the previous year.

  • The Union Minister for Home Affairs and Co-operation, Mr. Amit Shah chaired the 70th Plenary Committee meeting of the North East Council today in Guwahati, Assam.
  • Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region, Mr. G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State, Ministry of North Eastern Regional Development and Cooperatives, Mr PL Verma, Governors and Chief Ministers of North Eastern States, senior officers of various departments from Central and North Eastern States attended the meeting.

  • Tamil Nadu bagged 1 bronze medal each in 2 sports at the 36th National Games in Gujarat on Sunday.

  • Tamil Nadu beat Karnataka in the 4x100m medley relay and are fifth in the medal tally. Gujarat men's team won the soft tennis final against Madhya Pradesh 2-0 at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Complex in Ahmedabad. Host state Gujarat bagged an unprecedented 11 gold medals.
  • Tamil Nadu's S Vaishnavi won the women's artistic yoga gold with 134.22 points, followed by the Maharashtra pair of Chakuli Pansilal Selokar (127.68) and Poorva Sriram Kinare (126.68).
  • In the men's hockey at the Major Dayan Chand Stadium in Rajkot, Karnataka defeated Gujarat 11-2 to reach the semifinals against Haryana. Uttar Pradesh beat West Bengal in a penalty shootout after a thriller ended 1-1 in regular time. Uttar Pradesh will face Maharashtra who beat Jharkhand in the last quarter.
  • In the medal list of the tournament, Tamil Nadu is standing at the 5th position with 67 medals including 22 gold, 21 silver and 24 bronze. Chavez's team has retained the first position with 113 medals including 51 gold, 33 silver and 29 bronze.
  • Haryana is second with 95 medals (31/29/35) and Maharashtra is third with 119 medals (30/33/56).
