Liz Tross chosen as the new Prime Minister of Britain
- Internal party elections were held to choose a leader and a new prime minister for the ruling Conservative Party. With 8 candidates contesting these elections, there was a close contest between Rishi Sunak, who was of Indian origin, and Liz Truss-Su, who was the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
- About 172,000 Conservative Party members have been voting by post and online for the past few weeks to elect a new leader. These votes were counted and the results declared. Accordingly, Liz Truss got 81 thousand 326 votes and Rishi Sunak who contested against him got 60 thousand 399 votes.
- Subsequently, Liz Truss, who won by a margin of more than 20 thousand votes, will take over as the 56th Prime Minister of Britain. She is the 3rd female Prime Minister after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.
M. Duraisamy appointed as Chief Justice of Madras High Court
- Muneeswanath Bhandari was appointed as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court on 10th February. He is retiring on September 12.
- According to the Union Ministry of Law, M. Duraisamy has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He will take charge on September 13.
Inaugurated by the Innovative Girl Chief Minister Stalin
- The 'Thaliku Thangam' scheme, which was already functioning in Tamil Nadu, was canceled and the 'Innovation Girl' scheme was announced. In this, female students who have studied from six to plus 2 in government schools, are given an educational assistance of Rs 1,000 per month when they enroll in higher education.
- The launch ceremony of the project was held at Bharati Women's College Campus, Chennai. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was the chief guest at the event. Arvind Kejriwal launched the scheme of 26 Thakaisal schools and 15 model schools.

Good Teacher Award to 46 people including Tamil Nadu teacher: President Murmu
- The birthday of former President Radhakrishnan, who rose from being a teacher to the President of the country, is celebrated as Teacher's Day every year. On this day, the Union Government honors the teachers who excel in teaching by giving them National Good Teacher Award.
- In a ceremony held at the President's House, President Dravupathi Murmu felicitated 46 people, including Ramachandran, a teacher at Kizambal Government School, Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, and Aravindaraja, a teacher at Archuna Soubraya Nayakkar Government Higher Secondary School, Mudaliar Pettai, Puducherry.
Rajpath now 'Duty Path' - Union Govt Notification
- Rajpath is one of the major landmarks of Delhi. This route runs from the President's House to the Netaji Statue. The new Parliament building under the Central Vista project includes the Union Government Secretariat, residences for the Prime Minister, Vice President and others.
- Accordingly, the Union Government announced yesterday that the name of Rajpath will be changed to Karthavya Path. It is noteworthy that during the Republic Day, the parade of the tri-armies will take place on Rajapathi itself.
Prime Minister Modi's new announcement for 14,500 schools across the country
- In a post released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 14,500 schools across India will be upgraded under the Pradham Mantri Palli Yojana for India Development. These will act as model schools under the National Education Policy.
- Further, “PM-SHRI schools will have a modern, innovative and holistic system of imparting education. Emphasis will be placed on discovery-oriented, learning-centered teaching methods.
- The focus will also be on modern infrastructure including latest technology, smart classrooms, sports and more.
- The National Education Policy has changed the education sector in recent years. I am confident that PM-SHRI schools will further benefit lakhs of students across India under the National Education Programme,” he said.
The 28th Situation Report on India's External Debt 2021-22 has been released
- The External Debt Management Division of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance has released the 28th Situation Report on India's External Debt 2021-22. India's external debt, which was USD 573.7 billion at the end of March 2021, increased by 8.2 percent to USD 620.7 billion at the end of March 2022.
- The external debt-to-GDP ratio has declined significantly from 21.2 percent a year ago to 19.9 percent at the end of March 2022. The foreign exchange reserve ratio declined marginally to 97.8 per cent at the end of March 2022 from 100.6 per cent a year ago.
- Long-term debt is estimated at US$ 499.1 billion and short-term debt is estimated at US$ 121.7 billion. About 90 per cent of the total external debt is trade loans, deposits of non-resident Indians, short-term trade loans and miscellaneous loans.
Indian Regulations for Non-Transport Motor Vehicles entering India 2022 Issue
- The Union Ministry of Road and Highways has issued a notification dated 02.09.2022 of the Indian Rules 2022 for non-transportation motor vehicles entering India. These norms apply when foreign registered personal vehicles enter India.
- As per Indian regulations, the following documents are required to be carried while operating the skies while staying in the country.
- Valid registration certificate
- Valid Driving License or International Driving Permit
- A validly insured vehicle
- Valid Pollution Control Certificate
- If the above documents are in any language other than English then their certified translation should be kept along with the original documents. Motor vehicles registered in countries other than India are not allowed to carry local passengers or goods within India.
