Justice T.Y. Chandrachud Appoint as Chairman National Law Commission
- Justice Chandrachud was recently nominated by President Drabupati Murmu as the next chairman of the National Legal Services Commission. Following this, Justice Chandrachud has been appointed to the post. The Central Law and Judiciary Department has officially issued a notification in this regard.
- Earlier, the current Chief Justice UU Lalit was the Acting Chairman of the National Legal Services Commission. After the retirement of Chief Justice Ramana, YU Lalith recently took over as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. It is noteworthy that after this, Chandrachut has been appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Legal Services Commission.
- In the last 3 months of 2021, India's economy has grown faster than Britain's, thus India, which was ranked 6th in the list of major economies, has overtaken Britain to rank 5th, according to Bloomberg. 10 years ago India was ranked 11th in this list.
- According to data published by the International Monetary Fund, India's GDP was $2 trillion in 2014, while Britain's GDP was $3 trillion. Also, India's GDP in 2022 is $3.5 trillion, while Britain's GDP is $3.4 trillion. Whereas, India's GDP will be $5.5 trillion in 2027. However, Britain's GDP will remain at $4.6 trillion at that time, according to the International Monetary Fund.
- On behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the 30th South Zone Council meeting was held at Kovalam near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in which the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and the Lieutenant Governors of Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Andaman Union Territories and State Police Chiefs participated. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the meeting.
- The meeting was attended by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Puducherry Union Territory Deputy Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
- A delegation led by Lok Sabha Speaker Ombirla has gone on a friendly visit to the Latin American country of Mexico. University of Mexico in the city of Hidalgo there. Speaker Ombirla inaugurated the statue of Swami Vivekananda at a function in the campus.
- He later met with Mexican leaders and discussed the economy, trade and culture between the two countries. Commenting on this, Ombirla said on Twitter that the teachings of Swami Vivekananda will cross borders. This statue will inspire the youth. I consider it a great honor to inaugurate the statue here.
- Archeology Minister Thangam Thennarasu has launched a maritime pre-field survey to discover the archaeological resources of the Sangam-era Korkai port at Tuticorin New Harbour. Since 2022, excavations are being carried out at seven places in Tamil Nadu by the Tamil Nadu Department of Archaeology.
- In collaboration with the Indian Oceanographic University and the National Institute of Marine Technology, marine research work is being carried out to find out the archaeological resources of the Korkai port of the Maritime Sangam period opposite the mouth of the Tamiraparani river.
- During the Pandya period, Korakka served as a very good port. In 1968, the Tamil Nadu Government Department of Archeology carried out excavations at Korka. The first excavations dated Korkai to 785 BC. 2021 is the second time the excavation has been conducted at Korakkai.
- 2 Excavations indicate that Korakka was functioning as an important port before the 8th century BC. Various scientific and technological tools are used in this study to trace the antiquity of Korkai port.
