Bajrang Punia won bronze at the World Wrestling Championship

  • Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has won the bronze medal in the 65 kg weight category in the ongoing World Wrestling Championships. It is noteworthy that this is the fourth medal he has won in this series.
  • Bunia defeated Puerto Rico's Sebastian Rivera 11-9. Punia has won medals at the World Wrestling Championships in 2013, 2018, 2019 and 2022. He had won silver in 2018. All others are bronze medals.
A large ivory bead is found at the Keeladi
  • The 8th phase of excavation is going on from Feb. 12 on behalf of Tamil Nadu Archeology Department in 3 places namely Keezadi, Kontakhai and Akaram.
  • Already, 10 pits have been dug underground and items such as ivory dice, ear ornaments and glass beads have been found. A large ivory bell (anikalan) has now been found. This cylindrical bell has many coils.
  • The length of this bead is 5.6 cm, total diameter is 4 cm. The diameter of the hole in it was 1.3 cm. The surface was polished and looked smooth. Both ends were flat.
Nishad Kumar 'Gold' in World Para High Jump
  • India's Nishad Kumar won gold in the high jump at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix. The World Para Athletics Grand Prix was held in Morocco. Nishad Kumar represented India in Men's High Jump 'T47' category. Nishad Kumar, who cleared a maximum of 2.10m, took the first place and bagged the gold.
  • The silver medalist at the Tokyo Paralympic high jump cleared 2.06m, setting an Asian record. He has now broken his own Asian record. Besides, he won bronze in high jump (D47) at the World Para Athletics Championship in Dubai in 2019.
  • Ajit Singh and Devendra Jhajaria represented India in Men's Javelin Throw 'F46' category. Ajit Singh, who topped the event with a maximum throw of 64.77m, won the gold medal.
  • With two golds (2004, 2016), one silver (2020) at the Paralympics, Ven Zajaria has won medals at the World Championships (gold in 2013, silver in 2015) and the Asian Para Games (silver in 2014). In this series India got 6 medals namely 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze.
  • Other Indian medal winners were Neeraj Yadav (Gold, Discus F55-56), Anil Kumar (Silver, 100m, Run D54) and Ranjeet Pathi (Bronze, Javelin F57).
Durant Football - Bangalore 'Champion'
  • The 131st season of Durant Cup football was organized by the All India Football Federation (AIF) in Kolkata. Mumbai City and Bengaluru clashed in the final in Kolkata. At the end of the match, Bengaluru won the trophy 2-1.
  • With this, the Bengaluru team won the trophy in all domestic competitions in India. Already won I-League (2013-14, 2015-16), ISL (2018-19), Federation Cup (2014-15, 2016-17), Super Cup (2018) .
Japan-India Maritime Exercise 2022 concludes
  • The sixth Japan-India maritime exercise 2022, Jimex 22, conducted by the Indian Navy, ended on September 17 in the Bay of Bengal with a customary farewell by both sides.
  • Indian Navy ships led by Rear Admiral Sanjay Balla, Eastern Fleet and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSTF) Flag Officer Commanding Rear Admiral Hirata Toshiyuki ships Izumo and Takanami participated in the week-long exercise.
  • Jimex 22 witnessed some major joint exercises by the two navies. Both sides engaged in advanced anti-submarine warfare, weapons fire and air defense exercises. Ship-borne helicopters, fighter jets and submarines also participated in the exercise.
  • The exercise, which marks the tenth anniversary of Jimex, launched in 2012, consolidated mutual understanding and interoperability between the two navies.
