UNESCO Award to Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences for Mother Tongue Literacy Project
- Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences was started by Achyuta Samantha in 1992-93 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha with the aim of imparting education to the local people and improving their lives.
- Here completely free education, integrated skill development, sports training is provided in a boarding school. They are also given higher education at Kiss University. It is the first university in the world where only local students attend. So far 70 thousand local students have been improved through KIS.
- In this context, Kalinga Institute has been awarded the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Award by the Government of Korea for its Thai-language multilingual education program. KISS is the 5th institute in the country and the first in Odisha to receive this award.
- The award was presented at a ceremony held on September 8 and 9 in Côte d'Ivoire to coincide with International Literacy Day. The award includes a cash prize of Rs.16 lakh, a medal and a certificate.
- Many terrorist groups were operating in the state of Assam. Some of these have declared a ceasefire since 2012. Members of this group stayed in camps. In this case, a tripartite peace agreement was signed with 8 terrorist organizations of Assam state. It was signed by the central government, state government of Assam and 8 terrorist groups.
- Representatives of 8 militant organizations including Adivasi National Liberation Force, Adivasi Cobra Assam, Birsa Commando Force, Chantal Tiger Force and Adivasi People's Army signed the peace agreement in Delhi in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma.
- Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao inspected the work of the newly constructed head office in Hyderabad for Telangana state.
- The new Chief Secretariat will be named after Dr. Ambedkar, who enacted the Indian Constitution and brought light to the lives of the underprivileged. It is reasonable to name Ambedkar at the place where the law is enacted.
- This will pave the way for our country to become a leader. Annal Ambedkar's dream was that people from all walks of life should live with dignity. The state of Telangana came into being as per Article 3 of Ambedkar's Constitution.
- Ambedkar was also one of the reasons for the formation of Telangana state. Similarly, the new parliament building should be named after Dr. Ambedkar. Thus said Chandrasekhara Rao.
- Chief Minister M.K.Stalin had announced in the Legislative Assembly that a breakfast program would be started for children studying in classes 1 to 5 to eliminate hunger and malnutrition among government school students, promote education and avoid dropouts.
- Accordingly, on Anna's birthday yesterday, Chief Minister Stalin launched the breakfast program at Madurai Adimulam Municipal Corporation Primary School. Later, he sat down and ate with the children. Children were given kesari, rava kichadi and semiya upluma.

- The 17th World Wrestling Championship is underway in Belgrade, capital of Serbia. Vinesh Phogat from India got a place in the Indian team in the 53 kg weight category.
- In the women's 53 kg bodyweight category, Vinesh Phogat won the bronze medal by defeating Sweden's Emma Joanna Malmgren. With this, she became the first Indian player to win 2 medals in the World Championship.
- Angan 2022, a three-day international conference on Enhancing Nature through New Low-Cost Green Homes, began on September 14. Mr. Alok Kumar, Secretary, Union Ministry of Power inaugurated the conference titled “Transforming Buildings to Zero Carbon Emissions”.
- Under the India – Switzerland Construction Energy Efficiency Programme, the Energy Efficiency Committee of the Ministry of Power in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation has organized the Angan 2.0 conference.
- 75 eminent speakers including Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General, International Solar Alliance, Dr. Brian Motherve, Head, Energy Efficiency Division, International Energy Agency.
- In addition, eight opening sessions and eight keynote sessions will discuss issues related to reducing carbon emissions and energy efficiency in buildings, from 15 countries and international organizations.
