- இத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ், வறுமைக் கோட்டிற்குக் கீழ் உள்ள குடும்பங்களுக்கு, இழந்த குடும்பத்தில் முதன்மையான வருமானம் ஈட்டுபவர் இறந்தால் குடும்பப் பலனாக ஒரு மொத்த தொகை வழங்கப்படுகிறது.
- 'முதன்மை உணவு வழங்குபவர்' குடும்பத்தின் உறுப்பினராக இருக்க வேண்டும், ஆண் அல்லது பெண்ணின் வருமானம் மொத்த குடும்ப வருமானத்தில் கணிசமாக பங்களிக்கிறது.
- அத்தகைய முதன்மை உணவு வழங்குபவரின் மரணம் அவர் அல்லது அவள் 18 வயதுக்கு மேற்பட்டவராகவும், 65 வயதுக்கு குறைவானவராகவும் இருக்கும்போது நிகழ்கிறது.
- இந்திய அரசாங்கத்தால் பரிந்துரைக்கப்பட்ட அளவுகோல்களின்படி, வறுமைக் கோட்டுக்குக் கீழே உள்ள குடும்பமாகத் துக்கமடைந்த குடும்பம் தகுதி பெறுகிறது.
- மேற்கண்ட திட்டத்தின் கீழ் மத்திய உதவித் தொகை ரூ. 10000/- முதன்மை உணவு வழங்குபவர் இயற்கை அல்லது தற்செயலான காரணங்களால் இறந்தால். இறந்தவரின் குடும்பத்தில் எஞ்சியிருக்கும் உறுப்பினருக்கு குடும்ப நலன் வழங்கப்படும், உள்ளூர் விசாரணைக்குப் பிறகு குடும்பத் தலைவர் என்று தீர்மானிக்கப்படுகிறது.
- Under this scheme a lumpsump amount is provided as Family benefit, to the households below the poverty line, on the death of the primary breadwinner in the bereaved family.
- The 'primary breadwinner' should be the member of the household, male or female whose earnings contribute substantially to the total household income.
- The death of such a primary breadwinner occurs while he or she is more than 18 years and less than 65 years of age.
- The bereaved household qualifies as one below the poverty line according to the criteria prescribed by the Government of India.
- The amount of central assistance under the above scheme is Rs. 10000/- in case of death of primary breadwinner due to natural or accidental causes. The family benefit is paid to such surviving member of the household of the deceased who, after local enquiry is determined to be the head of the household.
