• இந்திய கடற்படையின் முதல் விமானம் தாங்கி போர் கப்பல் 1961ல் பிரிட்டனிடமிருந்து வாங்கப்பட்டது. ஐ.என்.எஸ். விக்ராந்த் என பெயரிடப்பட்ட இந்த போர் கப்பல் 1971ல் நடைபெற்ற இந்தியா – பாகிஸ்தான் போரில் முக்கிய பங்காற்றியது. 
• பின் 1997ல் படையில் இருந்து விலக்கப்பட்டது. 2017ல் பயன்பாட்டில் இருந்து அகற்றப்பட்டது. இதையடுத்து ரஷ்யாவிடமிருந்து 17 ஆயிரத்து 500 கோடி ரூபாய் செலவில் ஐ.என்.எஸ். விக்ரமாதித்யா விமானம் தாங்கி போர் கப்பல் 2013ல் வாங்கப்பட்டது. நம் கடற்படையில் உள்ள ஒரே விமானம் தாங்கி போர் கப்பலாக விக்ரமாதித்யா உள்ளது.
• இந்நிலையில், கடற்படை முதல் முறையாக உள்நாட்டிலேயே விமானம் தாங்கி போர் கப்பலை உருவாக்க முற்பட்டது. 2009ல் துவங்கி 12 ஆண்டுகளில் ஐஎன்எஸ் விக்ராந்த் என பெயரிட்டு உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. கடந்த ஆண்டு பணிகள் நிறைவடைந்தன. இந்த போர்க்கப்பல் 4 முறை சோதனை செய்யப்பட்டது.
• 23 ஆயிரம் கோடி ரூபாய் செலவில் ஐ.என்.எஸ். விக்ராந்த் போர்க்கப்பல் கட்டமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. போர்க் கப்பல் வடிவமைப்பு பணியகத்தால் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட இந்த கப்பல் கொச்சி கப்பல் கட்டும் தளத்தால் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• இந்த கப்பல் அதிநவீன தானியங்கி வசதிகளைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. இந்திய கடற்படை வரலாற்றிலேயே உள்நாட்டில் கட்டப்பட்ட மிகப்பெரிய கப்பல் இதுவாகும். 
• இந்தக் கப்பலில் நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட குறு, சிறு, நடுத்தர தொழில் நிறுவனங்களால் தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட கருவிகளும், இயந்திரங்களும் ஏராளமாக இதில் பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன.
• முற்றிலும் உள்நாட்டிலேயே வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட ஐ.என்.எஸ்., விக்ராந்த் விமானம் தாங்கி கப்பல், இந்திய கடற்படையில் இணைவதையடுத்து, விமானம் தாங்கி கப்பல்களை வடிவமைக்கும் திறன் கொண்ட பட்டியலில் இந்தியாவும் இணைகிறது. இதுவரை அமெரிக்கா, ரஷ்யா உள்ளிட்ட சில நாடுகள் மட்டுமே இப்படியலில் உள்ளது.
• ஐ.என்.எக்ஸ்.விக்ராந்த் கப்பலில் ஏராளமான சிறப்பம்சங்கள் உள்ளன. இந்த போர்க்கப்பலை கட்டமைக்க பி.எச்.இ.எல். மற்றும் எல்.என்.டி. உள்ளிட்ட சுமார் 500 இந்திய நிறுவனங்கள் பங்களிப்பை வழங்கியுள்ளன.
• இந்த கப்பல் இந்திய கடற்படைக்கு மேலும் பலத்தை கூட்டுவதாக அமைந்துள்ளது. இந்திய பெருங்கடலை அலங்கரிப்பதுடன், இந்திய கடற்படைக்கு வலுசேர்த்து கடல் எல்லைகளை காக்கும் பணியில் ஈடுபட உள்ளது. இந்த

• The Indian Navy's first aircraft carrier was purchased from Britain in 1961. INS Named Vikrant, this warship played a major role in the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Then in 1997 it was withdrawn from the force.

• In this context, the Navy for the first time sought to develop an aircraft carrier indigenously. INS Vikrant was built in 12 years starting in 2009. The work was completed last year. This warship was tested 4 times.
• INS at a cost of 23 thousand crore rupees. Vikrant warship is built. Designed by Bureau of Naval Design and built by Cochin Shipyard.
• The vessel has state-of-the-art automated facilities. It is the largest indigenously built ship in the history of the Indian Navy. This ship is equipped with a lot of tools and machines manufactured by more than a hundred micro, small and medium enterprises.
• India joins the list of capable aircraft carrier designers after the fully indigenously designed INS, Vikrant aircraft carrier joins the Indian Navy. So far, only a few countries including the United States and Russia are doing this.

• Placed. 21 medical staff including 5 medical officers will be recruited for medical work only.
• 30,000 tonnes of ultra-special type 249A grade DMR steel metal has been supplied by SAIL, Government of India. Vikrant has four times the amount of steel used to build the world famous Eiffel Tower in France.
•  2,400 kilometers of cables have been used in this ship. The vessel is said to be capable of generating enough electricity to power a small city. The first trial run of this vessel was held in August last year. After that, a total of 4 test runs were held last year in October, last January and July.
• Also, another highlight is that a new flag has been introduced for the new Vikrant warship. The St. George Cross on the current flag is being removed. It is said that the flag introduced in INS will henceforth be used on all Indian Navy ships.
