Repco rate hiked by 0.50 percent
- The country's unemployment rate continues to rise. RBI has been taking some measures to control inflation as it has been rising above RBI's forecast. Accordingly, the 6-member monetary policy committee of the RBI, which met on May 4, raised the repo rate by 0.40 points.
- As a result, the interest rate increased to 4.40 percent. Subsequently, on June 8, the repo rate increased by 0.50 percent to 4.9 percent. Following this, the repo interest rate has been increased by 0.50 points. The repo rate has been hiked by 50 basis points to 5.40 percent at the end of the two-month monetary policy.
