22nd Commonwealth Games - Day 5 Results

  • The 22nd Commonwealth Games are being held in Birmingham, UK. At the end of the 4th day, India had won 9 medals namely 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze. Following this, on the 5th day, the Indian women's team won gold in the lawn bowls competition and created a historic record. This is the first time that an Indian team has won gold in lawn bowls competition.
  • The Indian women's team beat South Africa 17-10 in the final. The Indian team consisted of Lovely Sawbe, Pinky, Nayanmoni Saikia and Rupa Rani Dirke. India beat Singapore 3-1 to clinch the gold medal in the table tennis men's team final.
  • India's Vikas Thakur lifted a total of 346 kg and won the silver medal in the men's 96 kg weightlifting category. India got silver medal in mixed badminton category. So far India has won 13 medals including 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze in this competition.
