Adapt to changing environment - PM's advice to Labor Conference

  • Union Minister for Environment, Forest, Labor Welfare and Rural Employment Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the 2-day National Labor Welfare Conference at the Taj Nakshatra Hotel in Tirupati yesterday.

46 National Teacher Award
  • We celebrate the birthday of former President of India Dr. Radhakrishnan on 5th September as Teachers' Day. On this day, teachers who have worked well at the national and state levels are honored with good teacher awards.
  • The National Teacher Awards are presented by the President in Delhi every year. In this case, the list of National Good Writer Award for the year 2022 has been released. Out of which 46 people have been selected.
  • Ramanathapuram District Keezambal Panchayat Union Primary School Teacher Ramachandran and Puducherry Mudaliarpet Government Menilai School Teacher Arvind Raja are also included in the list.
  • The President will present the awards to the National Meritorious Writers at a ceremony to be held at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi on September 5. The awardees will receive a certificate of appreciation, a cash prize of Rs.50,000 and a silver medal.
Tamil Nadu bagged India's Outlook Traveler 2022 award
  • Union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy presented the Silver Award for Tamil Nadu. While this awarding ceremony was held in Delhi, Tourism Principal Secretary Chandramohan and Tourism Director Sandeep Nanthuri participated on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government. The Outlook Awards represent the benchmark of quality in the travel and tourism industry and aim to provide a 360-degree view of the industry.
  • Over the years, these awards have attracted tourism entrepreneurs from various angles. This year's focus was on highlighting the changes that have taken place in the healthcare industry following the international pandemic.
  • Awards were presented in 11 different categories including Best Eco Tourism Destination, Best Wildlife Destination, Best Adventure Destination and Best Festival Destination. The awards were judged by eminent personalities from the Indian tourism industry. The event also featured panel discussions focusing on start-ups in tourism and destination marketing.
Sameer V. Kamat was Appointment of as Chairman of DRDO 

  • The Indian Army Research and Development Institute is providing advice to the central government regarding the weapons and equipment required for the three armed forces.
  • It is also exploring plans to develop advanced weapons locally. In this case, Satish Reddy, who was the secretary and chairman of the company, was appointed as the scientific advisor to Union Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh.

Ukraine issue - India votes against Russia in UN for first time
  • Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine on February 24 and launched a military operation. This sudden military attack by Russia continues unabated even after six months.
  • This war has shaken not only that region but the entire European continent. Countries including Europe and the United States have taken an anti-Russian stance on this issue. While China has taken a pro-Russian stance, India has declared neutrality rather than individual support for both countries on the issue.
  • After this war, various resolutions against Russia were brought in the UN Assembly, but India continued to abstain from voting against Russia in these resolutions. In this context, India has voted against Russia for the first time in the UN Security Council on the Ukraine issue.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been invited to address the UN Security Council meeting through video teleconference. Russia passed a resolution in the UN General Assembly rejecting the invitation to address the Ukrainian president.
  • India voted against this resolution by Russia. Meanwhile, China abstained from voting on the resolution. So far India has not criticized Russia as far as the issue of war is concerned. Meanwhile, India continues to insist that both sides find peace through dialogue.
Central Government Amendment in Statutory Metrology (Contained Goods) Rules, 2011 to facilitate trade and reduce the burden on garment or knitted garments sold as spares
  • Requests from various quarters have been made to the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution to exempt apparel or knitted garments sold as spare parts from the Statutory Metrology (Contained Goods) Rules, 2011.
  • Accordingly, in order to facilitate trade and reduce the burden on garment or knitted garments sold as spares, these goods are exempted from disclosure of the following information through the Statutory Metrology (Covered Goods) (Third Amendment) Rules, 2022:
  • Generic/generic name of the product
  • A unit of weight or meter or the net quantity of the number of items in a package
  • Selling price per unit
  • Month and year of manufacture or pre-packaged or imported
  • For products that become unfit for human use over time, the best-before date, month and year
  • Consumer contact name and address
  • It is sufficient to include only consumer relevant information such as producer/seller/establishment owner/country of importation along with name of importer/producer, consumer contact email and phone number, internationally recognized unit sizes, maximum retail price.
Cabinet approves export policy for wheat or meslin flour
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the policy amendment proposal for exemption from export restrictions/ban on wheat or meslin flour.
  • This approval will allow control of export of wheat flour. This will curb the rising prices of wheat flour. Also, it will ensure food security of the most vulnerable sections of the society. Directorate General of Foreign Trade will issue notification in this regard.
  • Earlier there was a policy of not imposing any restrictions or restrictions on the export of wheat flour. In order to ensure food security in the country and to keep the price of wheat flour under control, there was a need to withdraw the exemption from the ban and restrictions on export of wheat flour.
