- நாட்டிலுள்ள கைத்தறி நெசவாளர்களை கவுரவிப்பதற்கும் இந்தியாவின் கைத்தறி தொழிலை சிறப்பிக்கும் வகையில் ஆண்டுதோறும் ஆகஸ்ட் 7 ஆம் தேதி தேசிய கைத்தறி தினம் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.

- நாட்டின் சமூகப் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சிக்கு கைத்தறித் தொழிலின் முக்கியத்துவம் குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்தும் நோக்கத்துடன் மத்திய அரசு 2015 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூலை மாதம் ஆகஸ்ட் 7 ஆம் தேதியை தேசிய கைத்தறி தினமாக அறிவித்தது.
- ஆங்கிலேய அரசின் வங்காளப் பிரிவினைக்கு எதிராக கல்கத்தா டவுன்ஹாலில் 1905 ஆம் ஆண்டு இந்த நாளில் தொடங்கப்பட்ட சுதேசி இயக்கத்தின் நினைவாக ஆகஸ்ட் 7 ஆம் தேதி தேசிய கைத்தறி தினமாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டது.
- இந்த இயக்கம் உள்நாட்டு தயாரிப்புகள் மற்றும் உற்பத்தி செயல்முறைகளை புத்துயிர் பெறுவதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டிருந்தது.
- கைத்தறித் துறையானது நாட்டின் புகழ்பெற்ற கலாச்சார பாரம்பரியத்தின் சின்னமாகவும், நாட்டின் முக்கிய வாழ்வாதாரமாகவும் உள்ளது.
- கைத்தறி நெசவாளர்கள் மற்றும் அதைச் சார்ந்த தொழிலாளர்களில் 70% க்கும் அதிகமானோர் பெண்கள் என்பதால், பெண்கள் அதிகாரமளிப்பதற்கு இந்தத் துறை முக்கியமானது.
- முதல் தேசிய கைத்தறி தினம் 7 ஆகஸ்ட் 2015 அன்று நடைபெற்றது. இந்நாளில், கைத்தறி நெசவு சமூகம் கௌரவிக்கப்படுகிறது மற்றும் இந்த நாட்டின் சமூக-பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சியில் இத்துறையின் பங்களிப்பு சிறப்பிக்கப்படுகிறது.
- நமது கைத்தறி பாரம்பரியத்தை பாதுகாக்கவும், கைத்தறி நெசவாளர்கள் மற்றும் தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு அதிக வாய்ப்புகளை வழங்கவும் உறுதியளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
- கைத்தறித் துறையின் நிலையான வளர்ச்சியை உறுதி செய்வதன் மூலம் நமது கைத்தறி நெசவாளர்கள் மற்றும் தொழிலாளர்களை பொருளாதார ரீதியாக மேம்படுத்தவும், அவர்களின் உன்னதமான கைவினைத்திறனுக்கு பெருமை சேர்க்கவும் அரசு முயற்சிக்கிறது.
தேசிய கைத்தறி தினம் 2022
- 8வது தேசிய கைத்தறி தினம் ஆகஸ்ட் 7, 2022 அன்று நாடு முழுவதும் ஜவுளி அமைச்சகத்தின் ஒருங்கிணைப்பின் கீழ் தேசிய பாரம்பரிய ஜவுளி மையத்தில் (NCHT), ஜன்பத், புது தில்லியில் ஒரு கண்காட்சி மூலம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
- தேசிய கைத்தறி தினத்தை நடத்துவதன் முக்கிய நோக்கம் நாட்டின் சமூகப் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சிக்கு கைத்தறியின் பங்களிப்பை எடுத்துரைப்பதும், நெசவாளர்களின் வருமானத்தை அதிகரிப்பதும் ஆகும்.
- தேசிய கைத்தறி தினம் பல்வேறு மாநிலங்களில் உள்ள 28 நெசவாளர் சேவை மையங்களிலும், 16 நேஷனல் இன்ஸ்டிடியூட் ஆஃப் ஃபேஷன் டெக்னாலஜி (NIFT) வளாகங்களிலும் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.
- The National Handloom Day is observed annually on 7th August to honour the handloom weavers in the country and also highlight India’s handloom industry.
- The Union Government had declared 7th of August as the National Handloom Day in July 2015 with the objective of generating awareness about the importance of the handloom industry to the socio economic development of the country.
- August 7 was chosen as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement which was launched on this day in 1905 in Calcutta Town Hall to protest against the partition of Bengal by the British Government. The movement had aimed at reviving domestic products and production processes.
- Handloom sector is a symbol of the country’s glorious cultural heritage and an important source of livelihood in the country. The sector is key to women empowerment as over 70% of handloom weavers and allied workers are women.
- The first National Handloom Day was held on 7th August 2015. On this day, the handloom weaving community is honoured and the contribution of this sector in the socio-economic development of this country is highlighted. The resolve to protect our handloom heritage and to empower the handloom weavers and workers with greater opportunities is reaffirmed.
- The Government endeavours to ensure sustainable development of the handloom sector thereby empowering our handloom weavers and workers financially and instilling pride in their exquisite craftsmanship.
- The 8th National Handloom Day is celebrated on August 7, 2022 across the country under the coordination of the Ministry of Textiles through a exhibition planned at National Centre for Heritage Textiles (NCHT), Janpath, New Delhi.
- The prime objective of holding the National Handloom Day is to highlight the contribution of handloom to the socioeconomic development of the country and increase income of the weavers.
- National Handloom Day is being observed at 28 Weavers’ Service Centres in different States and 16 National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Campuses.
