தெருவோர வியாபாரிகள் (வாழ்வாதாரம் மற்றும் தெருவோர வியாபாரத்தை ஒழுங்குபடுத்துதல்) சட்டம், 2014 / Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014

• “தெரு வியாபாரிகள் நமது நகர்ப்புற பொருளாதாரத்தின் ஒருங்கிணைந்த பகுதியாக உள்ளனர். தெருவோர வியாபாரம் என்பது நகரங்கள் மற்றும் நகரங்களில் உள்ள ஏழைகளுக்கு சுயவேலைவாய்ப்புக்கான ஆதாரமாக மட்டுமல்லாமல், பெரும்பான்மையான நகர்ப்புற மக்களுக்கு, குறிப்பாக சாமானிய மக்களுக்கு 'மலிவு' மற்றும் 'வசதியான' சேவைகளை வழங்குவதற்கான வழிமுறையாகவும் உள்ளது. 
• தெருவோர வியாபாரிகள் பெரும்பாலும் குறைந்த அளவிலான கல்வி மற்றும் திறமையின் காரணமாக ஊதியம் பெறும் முறையான துறையில் வழக்கமான வேலைகளைப் பெற முடியாதவர்கள். 
• அவர்கள் தங்கள் சொந்த அற்ப நிதி ஆதாரங்கள் மற்றும் வியர்வை சமபங்கு மூலம் தங்கள் வாழ்வாதார பிரச்சினைகளை தீர்க்க முயற்சி செய்கிறார்கள்.
• நகரமயமாக்கலின் வேகம் மற்றும் நகர்ப்புறங்களின் வளர்ச்சியின் மூலம் வழங்கப்படும் வாய்ப்புகள் ஆகியவற்றைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு, தெருவோர வியாபாரிகளின் மக்கள்தொகை அதிகரிப்பு ஒரு மேல்நோக்கிய போக்கைக் கொண்டிருக்கக்கூடும். 
• இந்த விற்பனையாளர்கள் தங்கள் வாழ்வாதாரத்தை ஒரு இணக்கமான மற்றும் துன்புறுத்தல் இல்லாத சூழ்நிலையில் தொடர உதவுவது இன்றியமையாதது.

தெருவோர வியாபாரிகள் சட்டத்தின் முக்கிய அம்சங்கள்

• இச்சட்டத்தின் விதிகள், தெருவோர வியாபாரிகள், துன்புறுத்தல் மற்றும் வெளியேற்றம் என்ற அச்சமின்றி, நியாயமான மற்றும் வெளிப்படையான முறையில் தங்கள் வணிகத்தை மேற்கொள்ளக்கூடிய சாதகமான சூழலை உருவாக்குவதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.

• “Street vendors constitute an integral part of our urban economy. Street vending is not only a source of self-employment to the poor in cities and towns but also a means to provide ‘affordable’ as well as ‘convenient’ services to a majority of the urban population, especially the common man. 
• Street vendors are often those who are unable to get regular jobs in the remunerative formal sector on account of their low level of education and skills. They try to solve their livelihoods issues through their own meagre financial resources and sweat equity.
• Given the pace of urbanization and the opportunities presented through the development of urban areas, the growth of street vendors’ population is likely to have an upward trend.  It is vital that these vendors are enabled to pursue their livelihoods in a congenial and harassment free atmosphere.

Main features of the Street Vendors Act

• The Provisions of the Act are aimed at creating a conducive atmosphere where street vendors, are able to carry out their business in a fair and transparent manner, without the fear of harassment and eviction.
