  • The Center has released Rs 4758 crore in addition to the Central Government Tax Sharing Fund to improve the capacity of state governments for capital and development expenditure.
  • The central government has ordered to pay this monthly amount in two installments this time. One lakh 16 thousand 665 crore 75 lakh rupees have been given in two installments. Total 28 states have been included in the list of the Union Finance Ministry. It is reported that 4758 crore rupees will be released to Tamil Nadu.
U. Lalit is appointed as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
  • The incumbent Chief Justice should recommend to the Union Government the name of his successor before retirement. The tenure of NV Ramana, who is currently the Chief Justice, ends on the 26th. Following this, last week NV Ramana suggested to the Union Government to appoint 2nd senior judge U.U. Lalit as the new Chief Justice.
  • In this case, in a statement released by the Union Law Ministry yesterday, 'U.U. Lalit is appointed as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He will start his work from the 27th," it has been said. With this, he becomes the 49th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. U.U.Lalith who will take office on 27th, will last only 74 days in this post. He will retire on November 8. Born in 1957 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, U.U.Lalit started his legal career in 1983.
Nitish sworn in as Bihar CM for 8th term with support of 7 parties: Tejashwi becomes deputy CM
  • Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav takes charge as Deputy Chief Minister. Following the clash with the BJP in Bihar, Bihar Chief Minister and United Janata Dal leader Nitish Kumar announced yesterday that he would break the alliance. 
  • Subsequently, he resigned as Chief Minister and in the next few hours along with Lalu's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress and the Left along with a mega coalition of parties, claimed the right of the Governor to form a new government with the support of 164 MLAs.
  • Following the governor's approval, the swearing-in ceremony took place without pomp at the Governor's House at 2 pm yesterday. In this, Nitish took charge as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 8th time. He was administered the oath of office by Governor Bahu Chauhan. 
  • Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister. None of the ministers were sworn in. It has been said that JDU, RJD and Congress parties will get a place in the cabinet. 
  • Departments held by BJP in previous regime will be allotted to RJD. There are reports that at least 35 people will be included in the cabinet. The BJP boycotted the inauguration of the new government.
Union Cabinet approves 11th Amendment to International Postal Union Rules
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the amendment to the Regulations of the International Postal Union as stated in the 11th Additional Procedure contained in the Rules of Procedure signed at the 27th Conference of the International Postal Union held at Abidjan, 9-27 August 2021.
  • With this approval, the Indian Postal Department will obtain a “Decree of Approval” signed by the President and forward it to the Director General of the International Organization of the International Postal Union.
  • It shall fulfill the obligations arising out of Regulations 25 and 30 of the International Postal Union Rules.

  • Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyushkoyal, Union Minister of State for Cooperatives and North East Development, Mr. PL Verma participated in the event organized by the Ministry of Cooperatives, National Union of India and GEM.
