Information Technology Department Name Change - Issue of Ordinance
- The Department of Information Technology was formed on 5th October 1998 to support the development of Information Technology in the State and to ensure the development of e-Governance.
- The growth of IT and IT services sectors are interrelated. Therefore, achieving integrated development requires a proactive integrated policy approach. In the first phase, the post of Chief Technology Officer has already been created in the IT department to head the growing technology division.
- A Tamil Nadu Technology Hub (iTNT Hub) is being set up by the government in Chennai to facilitate innovation in emerging and cutting-edge technologies through startups.
- Therefore, to strengthen the development of IT, IT-based services and digital technology services in the state, it was announced that the department would be renamed as "IT and Digital Services Department" and an ordinance was issued to that effect.
- The current President Ram Nath Kovind's tenure will end on the 24th. Subsequently, the election to choose the new President was announced. Former Jharkhand Governor Dravupathi Murmu on behalf of the BJP alliance and former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha on behalf of the opposition parties were announced as candidates.
- The presidential election of the country was held on the 18th. MPs and MLAs voted in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies. 771 MPs and 4,025 MLAs voted in this election. Overall 99 percent voting was recorded.
- The votes cast in the presidential election were counted in Delhi yesterday. In the first round, votes of MPs were counted, followed by votes of MLAs. In the end, Drarubathi Murmu got a total of 2,824 votes.
- According to this he got a value of 6,76,803 votes. Murmu got 64 percent of the votes. Yashwant Sinha got 1,877 votes. According to this he got a value of 3,80,177 votes. Sinha got 36 percent of the votes.
- Dravupati Murmu holds the distinction of being the first tribal President and the 2nd woman President of the country. He will be sworn in as the President on the 25th.
- In Italy, Mario Draghi became Prime Minister in 2021 with the support of coalition parties. Now, due to the economic crisis in the country, the coalition parties have withdrawn their support. As a result, Mario Draghi resigned as Prime Minister today in the presence of President Sergio Madrella due to lack of a majority.
- While India had earlier won 14 medals, India bagged a silver medal in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol team event on Wednesday, the last day of the competition. In the final round, India's Anish Banwala/Vijayveer Sidhu/Sameer combination lost 15-17 points to Czech Republic's Martin Potrásky/Thomas Dehan/Madej Rambula.
