- 1971ஆம் ஆண்டு சதுப்பு நிலஙக்ளை காப்பதற்காக உலக அளவில் அதற்கென அங்கீகாரம் கொடுத்து ராம் சார் எனும் குறியீட்டை உருவாக்கி பல்வேறு இடங்களுக்கு அளித்து வருகின்றார்.
- அப்படி இதில் இணையும் இடங்கள் ராம் சார் குறியீட்டு இடங்கள் என மதிப்பிடப்பட்டு அதன் வளங்கள் பாதுகாக்க நிதி ஒதுக்கப்படும்.
- அப்படி இன்று இந்தியாவில் 5 இடங்களுக்கு ராம்சார் குறியீடு வழங்கப்பட்டது. அதில் மூன்று இடங்கள் தமிழகத்தை சேர்ந்தவர், அதில் ஒன்று, பிச்சாவரம் சதுப்புநில காடுகள், மற்றொன்று பள்ளிக்கரணை சதுப்புநிலம், மூன்றாவது கருகிலி பறவைகள் சரணாலயம் ஆகியவை ஆகும் .
- இது போக மத்தியப் பிரதேசத்தின் சாக்யா சாகர் மற்றும் மிசோரமில் உள்ள பாலா ஈரநிலம் ஆகிய இடங்களும் ராம் சார் குறியீட்டில் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன.
- தமிழ்நாட்டில் கரிக்கிளி பறவைகள் சரணாலயம் பள்ளிக்கரனை சதுப்பு நிலக்காடு, பிச்சாவரம் சதுப்ப நிலக்காடு ஆகியவை உட்பட 5 இடங்களை, ராம்சர் எனப்படும் சர்வதேச முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த புதிய இடங்களாக இந்தியா அறிவித்துள்ளது.
- மிசோரமில் பாலா சதுப்பு நிலம், மத்தியப்பிரதேசத்தில் சாக்கிய சாகர் சதுப்புநிலம் ஆகியவை மற்ற இரண்டு புதிய இடங்களாகும். இத்துடன் ராம்சர் இடங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 49-லிருந்து 54-ஆக அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
- In the year 1971, he created the Ram Sir symbol and gave it to various places for the protection of wetlands. In such a way the places joining it are rated as Ram Char index places and funds are allocated to protect its resources.
- So today 5 places in India have been awarded Ramsar symbol. Three of them belong to Tamil Nadu, one of which is Pichavaram Mangrove Forest, the other is Pallikaranai Mangrove and the third is Karukili Bird Sanctuary.
- For this reason, Madhya Pradesh's Sakya Sagar and Mizoram's Bala Wetland have also been included in the Ram Char index. India has declared 5 sites in Tamil Nadu including Karikli Bird Sanctuary Pallikaranai Swamp Forest and Pichavaram Swamp Forest as new Ramsar Sites of International Importance.
- Bala Swamp in Mizoram and Sakya Sagar Swamp in Madhya Pradesh are two other new sites. With this the number of Ramsar sites has increased from 49 to 54.
