• சர்வதேச தொழிலாளர் தினம் 2024 / INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY 2024: சர்வதேச தொழிலாளர் தினம் உலகம் முழுவதும் மிகுந்த உற்சாகத்துடன் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. சர்வதேச தொழிலாளர் தினத்தைக் கடைப்பிடிப்பதற்கு வெவ்வேறு நாடுகள் வெவ்வேறு காரணங்களைக் கொண்டுள்ளன. 
• ஆனால் பரஸ்பர ஒருமித்த கருத்து, தொழிலாளர்களை சுரண்டுவது பற்றிய பிரச்சினையை எடுத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
• முதன்முறையாக, சிகாகோவில் ஹேமார்க்கெட் படுகொலை நடந்த 1886 மே 4 அன்று இந்த நாள் நினைவுகூரப்பட்டது. எட்டு மணி நேர வேலை கோரிக்கையை வலியுறுத்தி உள்ளூர் தொழிலாளர்கள் வேலை நிறுத்தம் செய்தனர்.
• அப்போதிருந்து, நாள் கொண்டாட்டம் ஆண்டுதோறும் மே தினமாக மறுவரையறை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. 1889 இல், பாரிஸில் ஒரு கூட்டத்தில் அறிவிப்பு வெளியிடப்பட்டது. 
• Raymond Lavigne தனது முன்மொழிவில் சிகாகோ எதிர்ப்புகளின் சர்வதேச கொண்டாட்டத்தை நிரூபிக்க வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தை மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்தினார்.

• இது ஏப்ரல் 1856 இல் தொடங்கியது, ஆஸ்திரேலிய கல்வெட்டு தொழிலாளர்கள் ஒரு நாளைக்கு எட்டு மணிநேர வேலை நேரத்தை திணிக்க ஒரு கூட்ட ஆர்ப்பாட்டத்தை ஆரம்பித்தனர். 
• மே 1 முதல் அந்த ஆண்டில் எட்டு மணி நேர வேலைக்காக பொது வேலைநிறுத்தம் நடந்தது. மே 4 மற்றும் 5 தேதிகளில் நடந்த சண்டையில் ஏராளமான போலீசார் மற்றும் பொதுமக்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டனர்.

• சீனா, வட கொரியா, கியூபா மற்றும் முன்னாள் ரஷ்ய நாடுகள் போன்ற பல கம்யூனிஸ்டுகளில் மே தினம் கடைபிடிக்கப்படும் ஒரு விலைமதிப்பற்ற விடுமுறை. இந்த நாடுகள் தொழிலாளர் அணிவகுப்புகளை ஏற்பாடு செய்வதன் மூலம் மே தினத்தை நினைவுகூருகின்றன.
• 1955 இல், கத்தோலிக்க திருச்சபை தொழிலாளர்கள் மற்றும் கைவினைஞர்களின் புரவலராக இருந்த செயிண்ட் ஜோசப்பிற்கு மே 1 ஐ அர்ப்பணித்தது. இப்போதெல்லாம் பல நாடுகள் மே முதல் தேதியை தொழிலாளர் தினம் அல்லது தொழிலாளர் தினமாக அனுசரிக்கின்றன.
• அமெரிக்க தொழிலதிபர்கள் உழைக்கும் தொழிலாளர் வர்க்க மக்களை நாளுக்கு நாள் 15 மணிநேரம் தங்கள் தொழில்களில் ஈடுபடுத்தி மனிதாபிமானமற்றவர்களாக இருந்தனர். 
• தொழிலதிபரின் இரக்கமற்ற நடத்தைக்கு எதிராக 1886 ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 1 ஆம் தேதி ஒரு பெரிய புரட்சியை செய்ய துன்பப்பட்ட தொழிலாளர்கள் ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் சேர வேண்டியிருந்தது.

இந்தியாவில் மே 1 ஆம் தேதியின் முக்கியத்துவம்

• சர்வதேச தொழிலாளர் தினம் 2024 / INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY 2024: இந்தியாவில் முதல் மே தினம் முதலில் மெட்ராஸில் (தற்போது சென்னை) மே 1, 1923 அன்று இந்துஸ்தானின் தொழிலாளர் கிசான் கட்சியால் அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டது. இந்திய வரலாற்றில் முதன்முறையாக தொழிலாளர் தினத்தின் அடையாளமாக சிவப்புக் கொடி ஏற்றப்பட்டது.
• 1960 ஆம் ஆண்டு பம்பாய் மாநிலம் பிரிக்கப்பட்டு மகாராஷ்டிரா மற்றும் குஜராத் என இரு மாநிலங்களை உருவாக்கி அதன்படி இரு மாநிலங்களும் இந்த நாளை கொண்டாடுவதால் இந்தியாவில் இந்த நாளுக்கு மற்றொரு முக்கியத்துவம் உள்ளது.

• INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY 2024: International labour/workers’ day is celebrated across the globe with great enthusiasm. Different nations have different reasons to observe International Workers’ Day. But the mutual consensus has been to take up an issue of exploitation of the labourers. 
• For the first time, the day was commemorated on 4th May 1886 when the Haymarket Massacre in Chicago took place. The local workers did a strike on their eight-hour workday demand.
• Since  then, the day celebration has been redefined as May Day on an annual basis. In 1889, the announcement was made in a meeting in Paris. Raymond Lavigne in his proposal reiterated the need to demonstrate an international celebration of the Chicago protests. As a result May Day was announced formally in the year 1891 to be celebrated as a global annual event.
• It started from April 1856, when Australian stonemasons commenced a crowd demonstration to impose eight hourly working hours a day system. There was a general strike for the eight-hour workday in that year starting on 1 May. On 4th & 5th May, many policemen and civilians were killed in the fight. 
• On May 1, 1890, the call encouraged May Day demonstrations to take place in the United States and most countries in Europe. Demonstrations were also held in Chile and Peru. 
• 1st May became a yearly commemoration, inspiring American workers to have their first stoppage on the day. 1 May was selected to observe International Workers’ Day to mark the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago. 
• May Day is an invaluable holiday observed in many communists for example China, North Korea, Cuba and the former Russian nations. These nations commemorate May Day by organizing workforce parades. 
• In 1955, the Catholic Church devoted 1 May to Saint Joseph who was the patron saint of workers and craftsmen. Nowadays several nations observe  labour day or workers’ day on the first of May. 
• US industrialists were inhuman with the working labour class people by putting them for 15 hours day to day in their industries. The suffering labourers had to join each other on May 1, 1886 to make a huge revolution against the industrialist’s merciless behavior at work.

Significance of May 1st in India

• INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY 2024: The First May Day in India was initially observed in Madras (presently Chennai) on May 1, 1923, by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan. It was for the first time in Indian history when the Red Flag symbolized Labour Day. 
• There is another significance of the day in India since on this day in 1960 Bombay State divided to create two states Maharashtra and Gujarat and accordingly both the states celebrate this day.
