- அறிவியலில் பெண்கள் மற்றும் சிறுமிகளுக்கான சர்வதேச தினம் (International Day of Women and Girls in Science) ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் பிப்ரவரி 11-ஆம் தேதி (இன்று) அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
- சர்வதேச பெண்கள் மற்றும் சிறுமிகளுக்கான அறிவியல் தினம் ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் பொது சபையால் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. இந்த நாள் அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பத் துறையில் முக்கிய பங்கு வகிக்கும் பெண்களை மற்றும் சிறுமிகளை அங்கீகரிக்கும் வகையில் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறது. ஒரு நாடு தனது வளர்ச்சி இலக்குகளை அடைவதற்கு பாலின சமத்துவமும், அறிவியலும் முக்கியமானவை.
- எனவே உலக சமூகம் பெண்கள் மற்றும் சிறுமிகளை அறிவியலில் ஈடுபடுத்த பல முயற்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறது. ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் இந்த துறையில் முழுமையாக பங்கேற்பதில் சுணக்கம் காணப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
- அதாவது இன்னும் பெண்கள் மற்றும் சிறுமிகள் அறிவியலில் முழுமையாக பங்கேற்பதில் இருந்து தொடர்ந்து விலக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.
அறிவியல் துறையில் பெண்கள் மற்றும் சிறுமிகளுக்கான சர்வதேச தினத்தின் வரலாறு மற்றும் முக்கியத்துவம்
- ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் முன்னுரிமையாக பாலின சமத்துவம் உள்ளது. இலக்கை முழுமையாக அடைவதற்கும், பெண்கள் மற்றும் சிறுமிகள் அறிவியல் துறைகளில் பங்கேற்பதற்கான அணுகலை வழங்குவதற்கும், ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் பொது சபை பிப்ரவரி 11-ஆம் தேதியை அறிவியலில் சர்வதேச பெண்கள் மற்றும் சிறுமிகளுக்கான தினமாக கடந்த 2015-ஆம் ஆண்டில்அர்ப்பணித்தது.
- அப்போது முதல் ஆண்டுதோறும் பிப்ரவரி 11-ஆம் தேதி இந்த சர்வதேச நாள் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறது. அதே போல பல தசாப்தங்களாக உலகம் முழுவதும் அறிவியல், தொழில்நுட்பம், பொறியியல் மற்றும் கணிதம் உள்ளிட்ட பல துறைகள் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க பாலின இடைவெளியை (gender gap) கண்டுள்ளன.
- உயர்கல்வியில் பெண்களின் பங்களிப்பை தொடர்ந்து அதிகரித்து வருவதன் மூலம் பெண்கள் முன்னேற்றம் அடைந்திருந்தாலும், அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பத் துறையில் பெண்களின் முன்னேற்றம் குறைவாகவே இருக்கிறது.
- எனவே இந்த துறைகளில் பெண்களை ஈடுபடுத்துவதன் மூலம், நிலையான வளர்ச்சியை 2030-ஆம் ஆண்டிற்குள் அடைய ஐ.நா இலக்கு நிர்ணயித்துள்ளது.
- பல நாடுகளில் அறிவியல் துறையில் பெண்கள் சமத்துவத்தை அடைந்திருந்தாலும் கூட டிஜிட்டல் தகவல் தொழில்நுட்பம், கம்ப்யூட்டர்ஸ் , இயற்பியல், கணிதம் மற்றும் பொறியியல் உள்ளிட்ட துறைகளில் பெண்கள் சிறுபான்மையினராகவே உள்ளனர்.
- இந்த துறைகள் டிஜிட்டல் புரட்சி அடைந்து வருவதால் நிகழ்காலத்திலும் எதிர்காலத்தில் வேலை வாய்ப்புகளை உறுதியளிப்பதால் இவற்றில் பெண்களின் பங்கேற்பது அவசியமாகிறது.

- இந்த ஆண்டிற்கான அறிவியல் துறையில் பெண்கள் மற்றும் சிறுமிகளுக்கான சர்வதேச தினத்தின் கருப்பொருள் "சமத்துவம், பன்முகத்தன்மை மற்றும் உள்ளடக்கம்: நீர் நம்மை ஒன்றிணைக்கிறது" ('Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Water Unites Us) என்பதாகும்.
- உலகெங்கிலும் உள்ள மக்களுக்கு தண்ணீர் அதிகம் கிடைப்பதில்லை என்று ஐநா தெரிவித்துள்ளது. இந்நாளில், நிலையான வளர்ச்சியைப் பெறுவதற்கு, அதிகரித்து வரும் தேவை, மோசமான மேலாண்மை மற்றும் நீர்ப் பாதுகாப்பு குறித்து அரசாங்கங்களுக்கு ஐநா எடுத்துரைக்க உள்ளது.

- Since then, this International Day has been celebrated annually on February 11. Similarly, for decades, many fields around the world, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics, have seen significant gender gaps.
- Although women have made progress by continuing to increase their participation in higher education, their progress in science and technology has been minimal. Therefore, by involving women in these sectors, the UN has set a target of achieving sustainable growth by 2030.
- Although women have achieved equality in the field of science in many countries, women remain a minority in fields including digital information technology, computers, physics, mathematics and engineering.
- As these sectors reach the digital revolution, the participation of women in them is essential as they guarantee job opportunities in the present as well as in the future.
- The theme of this year's International Day for Women and Girls in Science is "Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Water Unites Us".
