Extension of Armed Forces Special Powers Act for another 6 months in Nagaland

  • The Armed Forces Special Powers Act in Nagaland has been extended for another 6 months. The state of Nagaland was formed in December 1963.
  • Prior to that, the Armed Forces Special Act (AFSPA) had been in force in Nagaland since 1958. Accordingly, anyone can be arrested without a warrant. The test can be performed without permission. Can hold fire.
17,500 crore new projects in Uttarakhand - Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays the foundation
  • Elections to the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly are scheduled for next year. Thus, the Central and State Governments are announcing various development projects in the State.

Pakistan has purchased 25 modern aircraft from China to deal with Raphael
  • India is buying sophisticated Rafale aircraft from France. In order to increase the strength of the Pakistan Air Force to counter it, 25 J-10C aircraft have been purchased from China.
  • All 25 aircraft will take part in the National Day parade on March 23 next year. The Pakistan Air Force has some of the best F-16 fighter jets in the United States.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held pre-budget consultations with state finance ministers
  • Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, chaired the consultation with the Finance Ministers of the States and Union Territories (including the Legislature) ahead of the 2022-23 Union Budget.
  • The meeting was attended by the Union Finance Minister, Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, State Finance Ministers, Ministers and senior officials of the Union Government. Welcoming all the participants, the Union Finance Secretary explained the importance of this consultative meeting.
  • At a meeting in Delhi, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan demanded that the central government extend the GST compensation for the next two years. In addition, the Central Government owes the Government of Tamil Nadu an outstanding amount of Rs. 17,000 crore in contribution funds for various Central and State Government schemes.
  • In addition, the operating subsidy for local bodies, as recommended by the 14th Finance Commission, is Rs 2,029.22 crore and the basic subsidy is Rs 548.76 crore. These amounts should be announced and provided in the federal budget.
  • According to the 2016 audit report, action should be taken to pay the outstanding amount of Rs. 4,500 crore to the Government of Tamil Nadu.   • Mr. K. Narayanan Master, Agriculture Representative from Kerala who was actively involved in coconut cultivation and related fields. Appointed Deputy Chairman of the Coconut Cultivation Board.

Central Government issues the Rules for Consumer Protection (Jurisdiction of District Commission, State Commission and National Commission), 2021
  • The Central Government has issued the Rules for Consumer Protection (Jurisdiction of District Commission, State Commission and National Commission), 2021, using the powers conferred by the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
  • The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 implements a three-tier system of District Commissions, State Commissions and National Commission for resolving consumer disputes. The jurisdiction of each layer of the Consumer Authority is specified in the Act.
  • Under the existing legal provisions, district authorities have the power to inquire into complaints where the value of goods or services under consideration does not exceed one crore rupees.
  • State authorities have jurisdiction to investigate complaints of goods or services valued at more than Rs 1 crore but not exceeding Rs 10 crore. District Commissions have the power to inquire into complaints if the value of the goods or services under consideration does not exceed Rs. 50 lakhs.
  • State Commissions will have jurisdiction to investigate complaints if the value of the goods or services under consideration is more than Rs. 50 lakhs but not more than Rs. 2 crores.
  • The National Commission has jurisdiction to inquire into complaints where the value of the goods or services under consideration is more than Rs. 2 crore.
A high-level committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved an additional Rs 3,063.21 crore in federal grants to six states
  • A high-level committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved to provide an additional central grant of Rs 3,063.21 crore from the National Disaster Relief Fund to the six states affected by floods, landslides and storms by 2021.
  • 1,133.35 crore to Gujarat, which was hit by Hurricane Dougday in 2021,
  • Rs 586.59 crore to West Bengal affected by Hurricane Yas in 2021
  • 51.53 crore to Assam, Rs. 504.06 crore to Karnataka, Rs. 600.50 crore to Madhya Pradesh and Rs. 187.18 crore to Uttarakhand for floods / landslides during the 2021 southwest monsoon.
  • This additional assistance is in addition to the funds already released by the federal government to the states from the state disaster relief fund.
  • The central government has disbursed Rs 17,747.20 crore from the state disaster relief fund to 28 states in fiscal 2021-22. In addition, Rs 3,543.54 crore has been released from the Central Disaster Relief Fund.
  • Following the ‘Toukte’ and ‘Yas’ storms, an advance of Rs 1,000 crore was released to Gujarat from the National Disaster Relief Fund on 20.05.2021 and Rs 300 crore was released to West Bengal on 29.05.2021.
Approval for Rs. 15,381.72 crore worth drinking water supply projects in Madhya Pradesh under Jal Jeevan project
  • 15,381.72 crore worth drinking water supply projects in the state of Madhya Pradesh under the Jal Jeevan Movement were approved at the state level project approval committee meeting.
  • It will benefit 9,240 villages in Rewa, Satna, Sehore, Siddi, Alirajpur, Padwani, Jabalpur, Panna, Mandla, Sagar, Katni, Thar, Sheopur, Umaria and Garhgon districts.
  • As the state plans to provide piped water supply to all rural households by 2023, approving these projects is crucial at this juncture.
  • It is noteworthy that all these villages face drinking water problem in summer. More than 22 lakh households living in these 9,240 villages are expected to have adequate access to adequate clean tap drinking water supply for the next 30-40 years.
  • A state level project approval committee has been set up to review and approve projects being undertaken to provide piped drinking water supply to rural households under the Jal Jeevan movement.
  • In 2021-22, Rs. While Rs 5,117 crore has been earmarked for Madhya Pradesh, Rs 2,558 crore has already been released for the implementation of the scheme.
  • As of today, out of 1.22 crore rural households in the state, 45.16 lakh (36.93%) households have access to piped water. The state plans to provide piped drinking water connections to 22.1 lakh households by 2021-22.
