Introduction of "VALIMAI" Cement - Launched by Chief Minister MK Stalin

  • The Alangulam Cement Plant, operating under the Tamil Nadu Cements Corporation, was started in 1970 by the then First-Minister Artist with a production capacity of 2 lakh MT per annum.
  • Subsequently, the Tamil Nadu Cement Corporation set up a plant at Ariyalur with a production capacity of 5 lakh MT per annum and another new cement plant with a capacity of 10 lakh MT.
  • The total production capacity of these three plants is 17 lakh MT per annum. Tamil Nadu Cements Corporation sells cement under the name "Government". During the industry grant request in 2021-22, the Minister of Industry announced that a new type of cement called "VALIMAI" would be introduced.
