National Security Advisors Conference kicks off in Delhi

  • US forces withdrew completely from Afghanistan last August. Subsequently, the Taliban established a new regime there. Only a handful of countries, including China and Pakistan, have expressed support for the Taliban regime. Most countries, including India and the United States, do not support the Taliban.
  • In this context, there is a worldwide perception that the Taliban, who rule Afghanistan, pose a terrorist threat to the Asian continent. In this context, the Regional Security Consultative Meeting of 8 countries was held in Delhi under the chairmanship of National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on this issue.
  • It was attended by defense leaders from eight countries: India, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. At the meeting, it was decided that Afghanistan should not become a haven for extremists, a training ground for planning, or a sponsoring country under any circumstances. The meeting also condemned all terrorist activities in Afghanistan.
Fumio Kishida re-elected Prime Minister of Japan
  • Fumio Kishida was re-elected Prime Minister of Japan following Amoka's victory in the parliamentary elections. Yoshihide Suka, who became prime minister of the eastern country of Japan last year, announced his resignation last September. In Japan, the prime minister is the leader of the ruling party.
  • The general election was held on the 31st for Barley, which has 465 seats. The ruling Liberal Democrats won 261 seats, up from 233 for the majority. Its ally, Komito, won 32 seats.
Release of MP Block Development Fund - Approved by Union Cabinet
  • The Union Cabinet has approved to provide block development funds to the MPs who were suspended due to financial constraints. However, from next year, it has been decided to split the MPs' block development fund of Rs 5 crore into two tranches of Rs 2 crore and Rs 50 lakh each, Union Minister Anurag Tagore said.
  • Moreover, as the country is now on the path to economic recovery, approval has been given to continue to provide block development funds from the remaining 2021-22 financial year to the next 2025-26 financial year.
  • The Union Cabinet has decided to continue disbursing funds on the basis of assessments conducted in 216 districts across India over the past one year. The block development fund is estimated at Rs 17,417 crore from the remaining financial year 2021-22 to the financial year 2025-26.
Asian Sailing - Ganapati / Varun Co-Champion
  • India's Varun Thackeray / KC Ganapathi became co-champions in the men's category at the Asian 49 ER Sailing Championships in Oman. This is the 3rd medal of this pair in the Asian Championship.
  • In the women's event, Varsh / Car won the silver medal at the end of the Harshita Tomar / Swetha Sherwe competition in India. Oman's Musab Al Hadi / Walid Al Kindi won the silver and Ahmed Al Hasani / Abdul Rahman Al Mashari won the bronze.
  • Next up, Varun / Ganapathi will be competing in the World Championships to be held on the 16th in the same city.
Union Cabinet approves November 15, Birthday of Lord Birsa Munda
  • The Union Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved to declare November 15 as National Honor Day to commemorate the heroic freedom fighters of the tribe and to let future generations know their sacrifices for the country.
  • India’s freedom struggle was strengthened by many more tribal communities including the Santalkars, Tamars, Kol, Bill, Kasi and Mizo. The revolutionary movements and struggles waged by these tribes were marked by their immense courage and noble sacrifice.
  • Tribal movements against the British rule in many parts of the country connected with the freedom struggle of the country and encouraged Indians all over the country.
Cabinet approves mechanism for procurement of ethanol by PSUs
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a higher price for ethanol produced from various cane-based raw materials under the ethanol blended petrol scheme. This applies to the ethanol supply year 2020-21 (December 1, 2020 to November 30, 2021).
  • Raising the price of ethanol from C heavy molasses from Rs 45.69 to Rs 46.66 per liter and raising the price of ethanol from B heavy molasses from Rs 57.61 to Rs 59.08 per liter.
  • Raising the price of cane juice, ethanol from sugar / sugar syrup from Rs. 62.65 to Rs. 63.45 per liter, plus GST and transport charges
  • The government has decided to give the oil PSUs the freedom to set prices for 2G ethanol as it will help them set up advanced biofuel refineries in the country. It should be noted that grain-based ethanol prices are currently determined solely by oil marketing companies.
Cabinet approves Rs 17,408.85 crore price support for Cotton Commission of India (CCI) for cotton seasons 2014-15 to 2020-21
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a fixed price support of Rs 17,408.85 crore for the Cotton Commission of India (CCI) for the cotton seasons 2014-15 to 2020-21.
  • As the Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. has its infrastructure ready, it opens 474 purchasing centers in 143 districts in 11 major cotton growing states. Union Cabinet approves allocation system for jute year 2021-22 under Packaging Jute Products Act, 1987
  • The Central Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on November 10, 2021 approved the allocation rules for the use of jute bags for packaging goods for the year 2021-22 (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022).
  • According to the mandatory packaging regulations approved for the year 2021-22, food grains must be packaged in jute bags with 100% sugar and 20% sugar content.
  • These provisions will further help in safeguarding the welfare of domestic crude jute production and jute packaging products and will also lead to India becoming self-sufficient in line with the Independent India Policy.
  • The allocation of jute packaging materials will help in the use of 66.57% of the raw jute produced in the country. Under the new quota system, the government has provided relief to 0.37 million workers in jute mills and related industries.
Goa Maritime Summit 2021 Closed
  • Third Goa Maritime Summit - 2021 was held successfully from 7th to 9th of last month. It brought together naval and naval leaders from the Indian Ocean region of Bangladesh, the Comoros, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, the Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
  • This year's meeting was entitled "Maritime Security and Emerging New Threats: A Study on the Vibrant Contribution of the Indian Ocean Navies". The meeting was held to bring peace to the Indian Ocean region.
Air Force Commanders Conference November 2021
  • The biennial Air Force Commanders Conference was inaugurated by the Minister of Defense on November 10, 2021 at the Air Force Headquarters (Vayu Bhavan). Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary, Chief of Air Staff, welcomed Defense Minister Mr Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defense Staff General Pipin Rawat and Defense Secretary Mr Raj Kumar. He introduced the Indian Air Force commanders to the Minister.
Meeting of the 11th Military Technology & Trade Initiative Group between India and the United States
  • The 11th Military Technology and Trade Initiative Committee Meeting between India and the United States was held on November 9, 2021 via video.
  • The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Rajkumar, Secretary of State for Defense (Military Logistics), and Mr. Gregory Kausner, Under Secretary of Defense, US Department of Defense.
  • The committee meets twice a year, alternately in India and the United States. However, due to the Covit-19 epidemic, the meeting was held for the second time in a row.
