- கள்ளக்குறிச்சி மாவட்டத்தில் கள்ளக்குறிச்சி அண்ணா நகர், தென்கீரனூர், ஜேஜே நகர், சின்னசேலம், திருக்கோவிலூர், நயினார்பாளையம், தகடி, கூத்தனூர் ஆகிய பகுதியில் 500 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட மரசிற்ப கலைஞர்கள் உள்ளனர்.
- கடந்த 50 ஆண்டுகளாக மரசிற்ப கைவினைத்தொழிலை குல தொழிலாக பாரம்பரியமாக தயாரித்து விற்பனை செய்து வருகின்றனர். இவர்களுடன் விஸ்வகர்மா சமுதாயத்தினரும் இந்த கைவினைத்தொழிலை செய்து வருகின்றனர்.
- மரசிற்பங்கள் பெங்களூர், டெல்லி, மும்பை, ஹைதராபாத், ஜெய்ப்பூர் ஆகிய மாநிலத்திற்கும், அமெரிக்கா, லண்டன், ஜெர்மன், சிங்கப்பூர் ஆகிய நாடுகளுக்கும் அனுப்பப்படுகிறது.
- மரசிற்பங்கள் விற்பனை தரம் உயர்த்த வேண்டி சென்னை கிண்டியில் உள்ள புவியியல் குறியீடுகள் பதிவுத்துறை அலுவலகத்தில் கடந்த 05.07.2013ல் கள்ளக்குறிச்சி மரசிற்பம் தயாரிப்போர் கைவினைத்தொழிலாளர் தொழிற்கூட்டுறவு சங்கம் மற்றும் கள்ளக்குறிச்சி அண்ணா நகர் விருக்ஷா மரசிற்ப கைவினை தொழில் கூட்டமைப்பு சார்பில் புவிசார் குறியீடு கோரி விண்ணப்பிக்கப்பட்டது.
- ஆய்வுகள் முடிந்து கடந்த மாதம் 14 ம்தேதி கள்ளக்குறிச்சி மரசிற்பத்திற்கு புவிசார் குறியீடு வழங்கப்பட்டது.
- There are more than 500 wood carvers in Kallakurichi Anna Nagar, Tenkiranur, JJ Nagar, Chinnasalem, Tirukovilur, Nainarpalayam, Thakadi and Koothanoor in Kallakurichi district.
- For the last 50 years, the wood carving industry has traditionally produced and sold handicrafts. Along with them the Vishwakarma community is also doing this craft.
- The carvings are sent to Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur and the United States, London, Germany and Singapore.
- An application was filed on 05.07.2013 at the office of the Registrar of Geographical Indications in Chennai Kindi on behalf of the Kallakurichi Woodcarving Manufacturers' Co-operative Society and the Kallakurichi Anna Nagar Viruksha Woodcarving Industry Federation to increase the sales quality of wood carvings. On the 14th of last month, the geological code was given to the Kallakuruchi wood carving.
