Prime Minister Modi speaking at the 14th United Nations Conference on the Prevention of Desertification
- This was stated by Prime Minister Modi while addressing the 14th United Nations Convention on Combat Desertification (UNCCD), also known as the United Nations Convention against Combat Desertification.
- At a UN summit on desertification, landslides and droughts, Prime Minister Modi said, "We are on the verge of landslides. India is moving towards reclaiming 26 million hectares of degraded land by 2030."

- "In India, over the last ten years, the forest cover has increased by about 30 lakh hectares, thereby increasing the country's total forest cover to one-fourth of the total area of the country," the Prime Minister pointed out.
- Prime Minister Modi also mentioned that a research center would be set up in India to develop a scientific approach to prevent land grabbing. Prime Minister Modi said that land is the basis for all life in this world and therefore called on all nations to work together to reduce the pressure on land resources.
- The Prime Minister pointed out how land reclamation is done by cultivating grasslands in the Bunny region in Gujarat’s Ron of Katch. Thus “not only is land degradation prevented, but it also promotes livestock and improves the livelihoods of livestock breeders,” he said.
Inflation peaked at 12.94%
- Inflation based on the country's overall price index (WPI) peaked at 12.94 per cent in May. The previous high was 10.49 per cent in April. This is the highest increase in the last 11 years.
