• பல்லுயிர் பெருக்கச் சட்டம் 2002 / BIODIVERSITY ACT 2002: பல்லுயிர் வாழ்நிலைச் சட்டத்தை கடந்த 2002ம் ஆண்டில் இந்திய அரசு நிறைவேற்றியது. இந்தச் சட்டம் அதிகாரப் பரவலாக்கப்பட்ட மூன்று அடுக்கு அமைப்பின் மூலம் தேசிய, மாநில மற்றும் உள்ளுர் அளவில் செயல்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. 
• இந்தச் சட்டத்தின் 8வது பிரிவின்படி தேசிய அளவில் தேசிய பல்லுயிர் ஆணையத்தை இந்திய அரசு ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கிறது. இது தன்னாட்சி அதிகாரமும், சட்ட அங்கீகாரமும் கொண்ட ஆணையம் ஆகும். 
• பல்லுயிர் வாழ் நிலையை பாதுகாத்தல், அதன் நீடித்த பயன்பாடு, அத்தகைய உபயோகத்தால் கிடைக்கும் பயன்களை நியாயமாகவும், சமமாகவும் பகிர்ந்து கொள்வதை உறுதிசெய்தல் ஆகியவை தொடர்பாக இந்திய அரசுக்கும் பல்வேறு அமைச்சகங்களுக்கும் அறிவுரைகளை வழங்குதல், ஒழுங்குமுறைப் பணிகளை செய்தல், உதவிகளை வழங்குதல் ஆகியவைதான் இந்த ஆணையத்தின் பணிகள் ஆகும். 
• வல்லுனர் குழுக்கள் மற்றும் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அமைப்புகளுடன் ஆலோசனைகளை நடத்துதல் மற்றும் வழங்குதல் மூலம் இந்த ஆணையம் செயல்படுகிறது.

• BIODIVERSITY ACT 2002: The Government of India passed the Biodiversity Act in 2002. The Act is implemented through a decentralized three-tiered system at the national, state and local levels.
• The Government of India has established a National Biodiversity Commission at the national level as per Section 8 of this Act. It is a commission with autonomous powers and statutory recognition.
• The functions of the Commission are to advise, undertake regulatory work and provide assistance to the Government of India and various Ministries with regard to the conservation of biodiversity, its sustainable use and ensuring fair and equitable sharing of the benefits derived from such use.
• The commission works by conducting and providing consultations with expert groups and relevant organizations.
