Successful trial of the 100% indigenously manufactured AK-203 'Sher' rifle
- Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) was established in 2019 in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, to manufacture AK-203 assault rifles domestically under the 'Make in India' initiative. The rifle produced at this Indo-Russian joint venture facility has been named 'Sher'.
- The fully indigenous AK-203 'Sher' rifle has undergone successful trials. The AK-203 is a gas-operated assault rifle based on the Kalashnikov platform, chambered for 7.62x39mm ammunition. It features a firing rate of 700 rounds per minute and an effective range of 800 meters.
