Approval for Uniform Civil Code Bill in Rajasthan
- A meeting of the Rajasthan State Cabinet was successfully held under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. During this meeting, formal approval was granted to key bills, including the Rajasthan Uniform Civil Code Bill 2026 and the Rajasthan Tree Protection Bill 2026.
- This decisive move, aimed at enhancing administrative reforms in the state, has been welcomed by various quarters. It has been announced that once the new law comes into full effect, the registration of all marriages within the state within sixty days will become mandatory.
- Furthermore, the Cabinet meeting clearly stated that polygamy is completely prohibited under this law. The government explained that these new legal provisions were formulated in response to the long-standing demands of the public.
- Ahead of Independence Day 2026, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced medals for gallantry and service to a total of 1,057 personnel from the police, fire services, home guards, civil defense, and correctional services.
- These awards comprise 301 Gallantry Medals (GM), 92 President's Medals for Distinguished Service (PSM), and 664 Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM). Of the 301 Gallantry Medals, 272 have been awarded to police personnel and 29 to fire service personnel.
- Among the recipients of the gallantry awards, 197 are from areas affected by Left-Wing Extremism, 51 from Jammu & Kashmir, 12 from the North-East, and 41 from other regions. Gallantry medals are awarded for conspicuous acts of bravery, such as saving lives and property, preventing crimes, or apprehending criminals.
