Tamil Thai Valthu separate resolution passed unanimously in the Assembly
- Chief Minister Joseph Vijay brought a separate resolution on Tamil Thai Valthu in the Tamil Nadu Assembly and spoke in the Assembly.
- There is also a practice in force that Tamil Thai Valthu must be sung before the start of the event in all educational institutions, universities, government offices, public sector undertakings, including public organizations located in Tamil Nadu.
- In this context, a letter has been issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the singing of the state anthem on July 9, 2023.
- In Tamil Nadu, since the 1970s, it has been a tradition and a continuous practice based on government orders to sing Tamil Thai Valthu first in all government programs and educational institutions.
- Based on the language and cultural rights granted by the Constitution of India, in order to uphold the cultural identity of Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly unanimously decides that the Tamil Thai Valthu should be sung before the commencement of the event in all educational institutions, universities, government offices, public sector undertakings and other public organizations located in Tamil Nadu.
- The DMK, AIADMK, Congress and VVS supported the government resolution brought by Chief Minister Vijay. Similarly, the PMK, Communist of India and Indian Union Muslim League parties supported the government resolution on the Tamil Thai Valthu.
- Subsequently, Speaker J.C.T. Prabhakar announced that the government resolution was passed unanimously through a voice vote with the support of all party members.
- Speaking under Rule 110 in the assembly, Chief Minister Joseph Vijay said, 'The Tamil Nadu government has decided to increase the incentives for the welfare of farmers who have cultivated paddy and sugarcane.
- This is the first time that the incentive amount has been increased by more than 156 in a year. The Tamil Nadu government will provide Rs 709.50 per tonne for sugarcane registered in sugar mills. With the increase in the incentive, farmers will get Rs 4,000 per tonne as sugarcane price.
- While the central government's procurement price is Rs 3,290.50, the Tamil Nadu government's incentive amount has been announced as Rs 709.50. The incentive has been increased by Rs 360.50 in a single year.
