• 2026 மே மாத நாட்டின் ஒட்டுமொத்த வேலையின்மை / COUNTRY OVERALL UNEMPLOYMENT IN MAY 2026: இந்தியாவின் ஒட்டுமொத்த வேலையின்மை விகிதம் கடந்த 11 மாதங்களில் இல்லாத அளவாக மே மாதத்தில் 5.5 சதவீதமாக அதிகரித்துள்ளதாகத் தேசிய புள்ளியியல் அலுவலகம் தனது மாதாந்திர காலமுறை தொழிலாளர் சக்தி கணக்கெடுப்பு அறிக்கையில் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
• முந்தைய ஏப்ரல் மாதத்தில் 5.2 சதவீதமாக இருந்த இந்த விகிதம், 0.3 சதவீதம் உயர்ந்துள்ள பொருளாதாரச் சுணக்க நிலை மாற்றத்தை நிபுணர்கள் கூர்ந்து கவனித்து வருகின்றனர். 
• கிராமப்புறங்களில் வேலையின்மை விகிதம் ஏப்ரல் மாதத்திலிருந்த 4.6 சதவீதத்திலிருந்து மே மாதத்தில் 5.1 சதவீதமாக கணிசமாக உயர்ந்துள்ளது. இது கிராமப்புறப் பொருளாதாரத்தில் ஏற்பட்டுள்ள தற்காலிகத் தொய்வைக் காட்டுகிறது.
• மாறாக, நகர்ப்புறங்களில் வேலையின்மை விகிதம் கடந்த ஏப்ரல் மாதத்தின் 6.6 சதவீதத்திலிருந்து மே மாதத்தில் 6.4 சதவீதமாகக் குறைந்துள்ளது. இது நகர்ப்புறங்களில் கடந்த ஓராண்டில் இல்லாத குறைந்தபட்ச அளவாகும். 
• ஒட்டுமொத்தமாக ஆண்களுக்கான வேலையின்மை விகிதம் 5.4 சதவீதமாகவும், பெண்களுக்கான வேலையின்மை விகிதம் 5.6 சதவீதமாகவும் பதிவாகியுள்ளது.
• தொழிலாளர் பங்கேற்பு விகிதம்மே மாதத்தில் 54.4 சதவீதமாகக் குறைந்துள்ளதும், தொழிலாளர் மக்கள் தொகை விகிதம் 51.4 சதவீதமாகச் சரிந்துள்ளதும் சந்தையில் புதிய வேலைவாய்ப்புகள் உருவாவதில் உள்ள சுணக்கத்தை உறுதிப்படுத்துகிறது. 
• மே மாதத்தில் வழக்கமாக ஏற்படும் பருவகால பொருளாதார நடவடிக்கைகள் மற்றும் தொழில்துறை உற்பத்திகளில் ஏற்படும் தற்காலிக சுணக்கம் போன்ற காரணங்களால் வேலைவாய்ப்புகள் தற்காலிகமாகக் குறைந்துள்ளதாகத் தேசிய புள்ளியியல் அலுவலக அறிக்கையில் விளக்கமளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• COUNTRY OVERALL UNEMPLOYMENT IN MAY 2026: The National Statistical Office (NSO) has reported in its monthly Periodic Labour Force Survey that India's overall unemployment rate rose to 5.5 percent in May, reaching a level not seen in the past 11 months.
• Experts are closely monitoring this 0.3 percent increase up from 5.2 percent in April as a sign of economic slowdown. In rural areas, the unemployment rate rose significantly from 4.6 percent in April to 5.1 percent in May, reflecting a temporary slump in the rural economy.
• Conversely, the urban unemployment rate declined from 6.6 percent in April to 6.4 percent in May, marking the lowest level recorded in urban areas over the past year. Overall, the unemployment rate stood at 5.4 percent for men and 5.6 percent for women.
• The drop in the labour force participation rate to 54.4 percent and the decline in the worker-population ratio to 51.4 percent in May confirm a slowdown in the creation of new jobs in the market. 
• The NSO report attributes this temporary dip in employment to factors such as seasonal economic fluctuations and temporary slowdowns in industrial production typically observed during May.
