Two MoUs signed in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin with an investment of Rs. 5,980 crore
- In a function held on behalf of the Department of Industry, Investment Promotion and Commerce at the Secretariat today (Feb. 16) in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, NMB Minibia India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Japan's Minibia Mitsumi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a semiconductor, electrical equipment and motor manufacturing project in Tiruvallur district with a committed investment of Rs. 1,980 crore and providing guaranteed employment to 1,400 people; Aequs Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up an aerospace and defense manufacturing complex at the Sibkat-Soolagiri Industrial Park in Krishnagiri district with a committed investment of Rs 4,000 crore and providing guaranteed employment to 7,000 people.
- Japan-based Minibia Mitsumi is a company that specializes in manufacturing semiconductor products, motors, sensors, and electrical appliances. NMB Minibia India Private Limited is a subsidiary of Minibia Mitsumi.
- Aequs Group has proposed to set up an aerospace and defense manufacturing complex and an aircraft engine and gearbox component manufacturing plant at SIPCOT-Shulagiri Industrial Park in Krishnagiri district with a committed investment of Rs 4,000 crore, creating guaranteed employment for 7,000 people.
- Tariq Rahman was sworn in as the 13th Prime Minister of Bangladesh. His party’s return to power after 17 years is expected to usher in a new era in relations with India. Indian Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who arrived in Dhaka this evening, was accorded a grand welcome.
- The AI Summit on the impact of artificial intelligence began in Delhi today (Feb. 16). Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the exhibition of this conference being held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
- Previously, the AI Summit has been held in Britain, South Korea and France. This time it is being held in India for the first time in the South.
- Based on the three principles of people, planet and progress, the conference will be held on 7 themes: human capital, science, democratization of AI resources, resilient innovation and energy, inclusive social empowerment, safe and reliable AI, and AI for economic development and social well-being.
- This conference, which is being held in the South for the first time, will be attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Brazilian President Lula da Silva, along with ministerial representatives from 45 countries.
