Review Meeting on the Progress of Iconic Projects under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister
- A review meeting on the progress of the iconic projects being implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin.
- To ensure that the large-scale, beneficial infrastructure projects, known as iconic projects, implemented by various government departments to bring about a transformation in the socio-economic structure of the state, are completed and brought into use as planned and within the stipulated time, review meetings to monitor the progress of these projects are continuously being conducted by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and the Chief Secretary of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
- Discussions regarding this agreement began when New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited India last March. Following several rounds of negotiations, the Prime Ministers of both countries spoke via telephone on Monday (December 22) to finalize the trade agreement.
- Following this conversation, an announcement was made that the free trade agreement had been finalized. It has also been stated that this agreement will come into effect within the next three months. From that day onwards, Indian exports to New Zealand will be exempt from taxes.
- It is predicted that this will significantly reduce the price of Indian goods in New Zealand, thus increasing the consumption of Indian products among consumers. It has also been stated that this agreement will promote trade, investment, innovation, and mutual opportunities between the two countries.
- In particular, it has been stated that new opportunities will be created for innovators, entrepreneurs, farmers, small, medium, and micro enterprises, students, and youth in various sectors.
