Porunai Museum - Inaugurated by Chief Minister Stalin
  • Following the archaeological excavations conducted by the Tamil Nadu Department of Archaeology in places like Adichanallur, Sivakalai, and Korkai, thousands of artifacts including thalis (marriage pendants), coins, pottery, and manuscripts were discovered.
  • The 'Porunai Museum' has been established to display these ancient artifacts. This museum, built with state-of-the-art technology at a cost of Rs. 56 crore, spans 13.2 acres and covers 55,000 square feet in Reddiyarpatti, Nellai, and is designed to be awe-inspiring.
  • Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the museum today. He planted a Vanni tree on the museum premises and unveiled a commemorative plaque remotely. 
  • Speaker Appavu, Ministers Thangam Thennarasu, K.N. Nehru, E.V. Velu, Geetha Jeevan, Ma. Subramanian, and MP Kanimozhi, among others, participated in the event.
  • During the event, Minister Thangam Thennarasu presented Chief Minister M.K. Stalin with a memento – the first artifact with a paddy ear symbol found during the Adichanallur excavation on the banks of the Porunai river. The Chief Minister then toured the museum and expressed his delight.
