Kovalam Beach Receives International Blue Flag Certification for 5th Consecutive Time
- The Blue Flag certification, a global recognition for beaches, is being given by the Danish-based Environmental Education Foundation to promote sustainable tourism on beaches and improve the blue economy.
- Kovalam Beach in Chengalpattu district became the first Blue Flag beach in Tamil Nadu after receiving the Blue Flag certification on September 21, 2021. It is a matter of pride for Tamil Nadu that Kovalam Beach has received this prestigious certification for the fifth consecutive time.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the largest hydropower plant in Bhutan with the assistance of India. Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck was also present at the event. Adani Power has signed a 570 MW hydropower project with Bhutanese company Druk Green Power Corporation a few weeks ago.
