வைக்கம் விருது 2025 / VAIKKAM AWARD 2025: 2025ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான 'வைக்கம் விருது' தேன்மொழி சௌந்தரராஜனுக்கு வழங்க தமிழ்நாடு அரசு முடிவு செய்துள்ளது. தேன்மொழி சௌந்தரராஜனுடைய பெற்றோர் தமிழ்நாட்டின் மதுரை மாவட்டத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் ஆவர்.
அமெரிக்காவில் வசித்து வரும் தேன்மொழி சௌந்தரராஜன் இந்திய அமெரிக்க ஒடுக்கப்பட்ட மக்களுக்கான உரிமை ஆர்வலர் மற்றும் எழுத்தாளர் ஆவார்.
கட்டமைப்பு சாதியத்தால் ஓரங்கட்டப்பட்டவர்களின் உரிமைகளுக்காக அவர் தீவிரமாக பிரச்சாரம் செய்து வருகிறார். அமெரிக்காவிலும், உலக அளவிலும் சாதியால் ஒடுக்கப்பட்ட மக்களுக்கு அதிகாரம் அளிக்கும் சிவில் உரிமைகள் அமைப்பான ஈக்வாலிட்டி லேப்ஸின் நிறுவனர் / நிர்வாக இயக்குநர் ஆவார்.
தேன்மொழி சௌந்தரராஜன் அமெரிக்காவிலும் இந்தியாவிலும் சாதி பாகுபாட்டிற்கு எதிரான அவரது பணிகளுக்காகவும், ஊடகம் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப நீதித் துறையில் அவரது பங்களிப்புகளுக்காகவும் அறியப்படுகிறார்.
தேன்மொழி சௌந்தரராஜன் அவர்கள் "The Trauma of Caste A Dalit Feminist Meditation on Survivorship, Healing, and Abolition" என்ற புத்தகத்தின் ஆசிரியர் ஆவார்.
இதன் நோக்கம் சாதியின் பெயரால் பாகுபாடு காட்டப்படுவதை முடிவுக்கு கொண்டு வருவதாகும். இந்த படைப்பிற்காக இவர் Asian/Pacific American Awards for Literature (APAAL) பெற்றுள்ளார்.
மேலும், தெற்காசிய ஆய்வுகள் துறையில் புலமைப்பரிசில் (scholarship) சிறந்த சாதனைக்காக South Asian Literary Association (SALA) Award-யும் பெற்றுள்ளார் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
வைக்கம் விருதிற்காக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட தேன்மொழி சௌந்தரராஜனுக்கு ஐந்து இலட்சம் ரூபாய்க்கான காசோலை, பாராட்டுச் சான்றிதழ் மற்றும் தங்க முலாம் பூசிய பதக்கம் முதலமைச்சர் மு.க. ஸ்டாலினால் வழங்கப்படும்' எனத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
முன்னதாக 2024ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான 'வைக்கம் விருது' கர்நாடக மாநிலம், மைசூரு மாவட்டத்தை சேர்ந்த புகழ் பெற்ற எழுத்தாளர் தேவநூர மஹாதேவாவுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

VAIKKAM AWARD 2025: The Tamil Nadu government has decided to confer the 'Vaikam Award' for the year 2025 on Thenmozhi Soundararajan. Thenmozhi Soundararajan's parents are from Madurai district of Tamil Nadu.
Thenmozhi Soundararajan, who lives in the United States, is an Indian American rights activist and writer for the oppressed people. She actively campaigns for the rights of those marginalized by structural caste.
She is the founder/executive director of Equality Labs, a civil rights organization that empowers people oppressed by caste in the United States and globally. Thenmozhi Soundararajan is known for her work against caste discrimination in the United States and India, and for her contributions to the field of media and technological justice.
Thenmozhi Soundararajan is the author of the book "The Trauma of Caste A Dalit Feminist Meditation on Survivorship, Healing, and Abolition". The aim of the book is to end discrimination in the name of caste.
He has received the Asian/Pacific American Awards for Literature (APAAL) for this work. It is noteworthy that he has also received the South Asian Literary Association (SALA) Award for outstanding achievement in scholarship in the field of South Asian Studies.
Thenmozhi Soundararajan, who has been selected for the Vaikom Award, will be presented with a cheque for five lakh rupees, a certificate of appreciation and a gold-plated medallion by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, it has been reported.
It is noteworthy that earlier the 'Vaikom Award' for the year 2024 was given to Devanura Mahadeva, a renowned writer from Mysore district, Karnataka.
