CIBIL score not mandatory for first-time borrowers - Central Government Announcement
  • A 'CIBIL score' is mandatory for getting personal loans, auto loans, home loans, jewelry loans, and other bank loans from banks. Due to this, banks provide loans only if the CIBIL score, which determines the creditworthiness of an individual, is above a certain level. Many people are suffering from not being able to get loans due to insufficient CIBIL score.
  • In this situation, the Central Government has clarified that CIBIL score is not mandatory for getting a first-time bank loan. In this regard, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said, 'First-time borrowers should not be denied bank loans on the grounds that their CIBIL score is zero or less.
  • The Reserve Bank of India had advised banks in January that CIBIL score is not mandatory for first-time borrowers. Similarly, the Reserve Bank has not fixed a minimum CIBIL score for loan applications.
Nepal joins India-led alliance to conserve tiger species
  • Neighboring Nepal has officially joined the India-led International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), which protects seven big cat species including tigers and lions. The IPCA announced on Saturday that Nepal has joined the alliance by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
  • Nepal, which is home to tigers, snow leopards and leopards, said its membership in the IPCA will strengthen international cooperation to conserve big cats, the IPCA said. While there were just 121 tigers in Nepal in 2009, their number has increased to 355 according to the last census conducted in 2022.

  • An MoU between the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology of India and Pacific Polytechnic of Fiji for cooperation in the field of human resource development has been signed.
  • Announcements were made including a visit by a delegation of the Fijian Parliament to India in 2026, a visit by a naval ship of the Indian Navy to Fiji in 2025, provision of ambulances to the Fijian Army, establishment of a computer security centre in Fiji, and sending a teacher of Hindi and Sanskrit to the University of Fiji.
